went well beyond redline in my TL
my friend wants to buy a car...a TL or the new accord V6...
so he asked me to show him the midrange punch coz he couldn't do it when test driving at dealer...
so we went on the hwy ramp and i was SS at 2...
with only 2/3 of throttle the car zoomed up quickly and the tach went all the way up to 6800rpm until i shifted to 3rd...
to me it seems no sign to stop and could go even more...i didn't wnat to try that.....but our TL-P redline is at 6300rpm...which went way beyond it is...
so i just wnat to know is it just me or anyone have experienced this???

I've went over that in 3rd gear before... cuz I drag race and at the end of the quarter mile, my TL's about 103, 4 MPH, and that's like right after redline and there's no point of ****ing into 4th so I just let it redline... anyways, I don't think it's a problem at all as long as you don't do it like everytime you drive. but I could be wrong.

redlining wont hurt the car at all, theres a fuel cutoff/rev limiter (which ive hit a few times) to stop the engine from revving to a point where it would get damaged. there really isnt any way you can damage the engine unless you do something really stupid like a neutral drop, and that will destroy the tranny before the engine

Primary concern with redlining is accessories
Years ago, my wife dragged a Lotus Esprit with our Prelude VTEC that was trying to ace her for a lane spot and she hit the fuel cutoff at 8000 rpm. Redline is 7500. Momentarily, the engine dropped revs. She kept her spot but wondered what happened. I told her that the fuel cutoff was there to protect the engine. More specifically, the redline is really there to protect the motor driven accessories like the power steering pump, AC compressor, etc. Honda motors proper are good for much more.
Now that she drives an S2000, she has yet to hit the fuel cutoff in it. Honey, peak horsepower is at 8300, redline is 8900 so shift around 8500 and you'll leave most contenders behind! I was driving it the other day and a Miata wanted to race. I took it to the top of second gear around 70 leaving the poor little roadster behind. Silly Miata! What were you thinking?

my friend had an SH model and he could went well far beyond the redline...while the new RSX type S cuts off fuel at 8200rpm but u can drop from 4th to 3rd with 9000rpm
S2000 can go more than its 8900rpm for sure...should be around 9200-9300 rpm

I went well over 9k rpms on my TL. I was punching it when the power steering belt pop out of the pulley, making the car go over the redline. I lost power steering and the car shut off. I pulled over to the side. I didn't know what happened at the time, so I took it to acura on a towntruck and the mechanic told me it was fine that the belt just came off. I thought it was the tranny or something really bad when it happened.
