Went to the track with the S last nite...

I got about 5 runs in last night at Great Lake Dragway in Union Grove, WI. The tempature was around 68-70 degrees.

My best 1/4 mile run was 15.147@92.553 R/T .717 60' 2.329 with VSC off, gate shifting at redline, and brake torqued at about 1.5-2k RPM

My worst run was my 1st run with a 1/4 mile time of 15.460@91.52 R/T .836 60' 2.448 with VSC off, Auto in D3 and no brake torqueing.

I'm pretty happy with those #s considering its a family sedan
Some guy at the track told me his CL-S ran a 14.9 but he ran on a different day with different track conditions:p Oh well, maybe next time...

Any mods?? Those are pretty decent times for no mods....If you have mods, I'd be a little dissappointed.

My a$$--Those times are pretty good, with mods (unless you have a supercharger)

You also have to factor in how much gas you had, how much Xtra weight (spare tire, etc?)

If you had less than 1/2 tank with no spare tire and stock rims, you did well.

Really? A TL-S with headers, intake should run better than 15.1. Hell, C&D lists 14.7 for a stock TL-S.

I'm not trying to say those aren't good runs by the way, 15.1 is a excellent run for a stock TL-S.

well the weather would have alot to do with the results. i know its been hot and humid here in wisconsin lately so that would make a difference i have a 2000 and run 15.29 to 15.45 with good weather (mid 60's to low 70's temp)

The car is bone stock 2003 Type S with 2xxx miles. The car was purchased in august a year ago but it hasn't been driven much, its the garage queen at our house =P When I raced, I took out the spare tire and it had just a little over 1/2 tank of 93 octane gas. I didn't deflate the tires or remove any seats so this time is as close to stock as possible =)

I didn't need to neutral drop it to achieve similar times. I just used sportshift with VSA off and 1/4th tank of gas. I think the main reason his times were not in the 14s were because he only has 2000 miles. Break the car in and go back when you're at 10k or 20k miles.

I GOT A 2003 ACURA TL-S AND GOING TO THE TRACK 4 TIMES I GOT MY BEST TIME ON 1/4 MILE 15.006 @ 94.02 , R/T .700 . THE THING IS THAT 'MY CAR HAS ONLY 5000 MILES ON IT AND THE ENGINE HASN'T BROKE IN YET. THE MAGAZINES LIKE CAR AND DRIVE AND AUTOMOBILE SAYS THAT MY CAR WOULD GO 14.9 @ 95.6.

I have never been to a track. How do you go about it? Union Grove would not be too far for me. Am in Madison WI. I have been using the Passport G-Timer. I get the feeling that it is probably quite accurate because the results definitely "group." Be nice to compare it to the track though. I already had a CT Icebox when I got the G-timer. Have had lots of 1/4 miles under 15. Lots of 0-60 at 6.6. Got CT header last week. Now getting 0-60 easily at 6.4. 1/4 miles always under 15.

'03 TLS. 25k miles. VSA off. A/C off. No SS - just leave in auto.

What are you talking about? You may be thinking of a non Type-S model.

Anyway, those times are right in line with what we've seen for a stock TL-S. Nice runs!! Stock the TL-S should be between 14.9 and 15.2 or so. There are some fluke Type-S models that have run .2 higher or lower then that range.. but that range is pretty much the average.

I ran a 14.9xx with just an intake, which means that I'm right on track as well. With my headers I should now be a little lower into the 14's.

I did the same thing as you (except I left in the spare)... didn't deflate the tires or take anything out (and I have a 100lb. system in the trunk) and I had about 1/2 tank of gas. I wanted to run it the way I drive it on the street, so I knew what the car was running with a real-world setup. That and it was my first time to the track.. so I was happy with my times.

when I went to the track I had to take out my trunk system which weights about 200 lbs (2 amps and 2 subs). with that on my best time was 15.127. i did not take my spare tire out. no mods on stock car. trac off.a/c off.

I didn't konw that only the headers and an intake you make so much difference. 15.3 to 14.8 is a lot faster. which intake and headers you installed?

the icebox is a good one and so is the aem cai for intakes, as far as headers? its a toss up between the comptech and the obx. the main difference is the price as far as most of can tell

I have comptech all around...

also, i ran a 14.8 @ 96 (actually) w/ bald front tires... my 60ft. time was a measly 2.44 ...

now w/ my springs, and if i had new sticky tires (kumho's ..etc) .. i'd prolly run a 14.5 ...

CT headers and intake really complement this engine
