was it well worth it
#2
I had mentioned the following in a related post.
"I have to admit when I first bought my car, I thought the NAVI was a toy. Trust me that you will use it more than you ever imagined. There were several times where I was stuck in a traffic jam and wondered if I could cut through a subdivision to my side. Typically you turn in, circle around and come back out where you started. I just clicked on the NAVI, and was able to follow a path out of the subdivision. Try do that at the spur of the moment with your paper maps. Just the time it has saved me by finding alternate routes has made it well worth the purchase."
I'd have no problems admitting that it was just a gimmick, but I think it's well worth it. In a year or two the updated DVDs will have more info on them and will diminish some of the minor issues mentioned before about not having comprehensive rural mapping.
I would definitely do it again.

I'm in real estate and have to find different properties around the state. It can be a pain, and I waste a lot of time searching for properties on paper maps. I will soon find out how good it is, however from the sound of it, it appears to be very helpful.

I never thought I would use the navi, but got it anyways cuz I got a good deal on the car.
Anyways, I've had the car about 3 weeks and can't imagine having been without it... it has been a Godsend on at least 3 separate occasions... you never realize how much it comes in handy till you get stuck in a bind...

The navi rocks, it has been tremendously useful to me. Just yesterday I had to rush to an Office Depot right away...just punched it into the navi and it took me right to the door of the nearest one! This thing is a lifesaver! You may say why not just use directory assistance - well they don't give you route guidance :-)
Maguenua, the Lexus navi has a much more comprehensive map database than the Acura navi.

Let me say that the TLS was the very first car I've driven with a NAV and let me tell you that I'm never going back! I dont care what car I buy next, as I dont have any preferential treatment to any company what so ever...I judge all the cars as is, and I make an educated guess on what will last me and give me the other all best bang for the buck (and it just happens that the TLS was the winner by a mile). I can understand if all you do is drive around the block and live in rural areas, but my friends can vouch for me when I say that I'm practically almost living the commercials about Acura TL drivers going out of their way for little things just for the sake of driving. I travel 45 miles south to go to work each day, and the place I get my haircut is 23 miles up north where I originally came from and I've aready tried out the nearest restaurant feature more than I could remember. If I had to sacrifice the performance of the car just so I can keep the price down just enough so that I could afford the NAV, I will.

You can also use the navi for a lot of other things.
But I agree with everybody here. The navi is a must have and even if you use it once in a while, it is well worth it. I will never buy another car without the navi.

This would be the order of my preference for the TL/TLs -
1) TL-s with Navigation
2) TL with Navigation
A TL-s without Navigation or a TL without Navigation, simply is not an option for me, having owned this car with the Navigation for over 1 year. When I bought my car, the TL-s was not available.
If the TL/TL-s only came in the following configurations,
1) TL with Navigation
2) TL-s without Navigation,
I would sacrifice the goodies in the TL-s (which in my estimation is well worth its price) and opt for the the TL with Navigation. A TL without the Navigation, simply does not appeal to me. If it is a car without the Navigation, I would broaden my horizons a bit and check out quite a few other cars models from competitors especially the up-coming Altima, the Passat GLX W8 (which would be having a 4yr/50000 mile warranty from the 02 model year) etc.
I would never purchase a future car, which does not have this wonderful option.

I think the navi was worth it for me. I don't use it much now....but i am going to move soon to Charolette, NC. I figure it will be well worth it then. I thought at first that i was just a toy to have but now that i look at it...i can't imagine my TL-S without it.
