Weird tail light problem

I noticed tonight, when I was driving behind my TL that the drivers side rear tail light does not light up(The passenger's side does). First I thought, ok, maybe the bulbs gave out, but when my wife braked(she was driving the TL), the brake lights lit up. Any one have any idea what might be going on and how I can fix this? Is it a different set of bulbs for the brake lights and the entire tail light?

Thanks
Ming

i believe the tail llight bulb is a dual filament so maybe one of them is out. try switching bulbs and see if the driver's side still does not light up.

if that was the case wouldnt his brake light warning come on in the gauge cluster? I've had a problem on my tl where part of the passengerside light isnt fully illuminated but its not out either, and ive seen it on another TL on the highway too, i might be going crazy but i swear its true.

i think the brake light warning comes on if there's something wrong with the electrical part...i've had my third brake light go out on me and the warning didnt come on. it was only out b/c of a burnt out bulb.

this happened to me a week or 2 ago. they are dual fili bulbs and i had no indicator come on in the dash. i assumed maybe it would come on the bulb died (both lights)? or something. at any rate you will need some 7443 bulbs to replace.

also for the hell of it, you can take a look and verify of course, it only takes a second

You just need to replace the bulb. Very easy fix. Yes, brake lights are dual filament bulbs. I see TLs here with that prob all the time.
