OK, I have a kind of odd question. After I start my car and begin to drive, there's this odd sound that comes from the front of the car. I sounds kinda like "orrrmmmm..." and lasts for a couple of seconds. The weird thing is, as long as you don't turn the car off, you never hear that sound again. I only hear it in the first 10 feet of driving after I turn the car on (i.e. backing out of the driveway). I can reproduce it every single time. Anyone have any ideas as to what this might be?

 

I think that may be the ABS system doing a self check to make sure things are ok. I only get that sound when I start up in the morning...I was freaked at first, but later found out that it is totally normal.

 

are you sure it's not the climate control system coming on?

 

Yeah I got that sounds, I think it's normal.

 

Yeah, I have the same sound coming from the hood of my car..I heard it the day after i bought my car..4000 miles later, and no probs, so i think its normal, probably the abs system, or something else doing a self check at start up.

 

Thanks. I won't worry about it then. I'm sure it's not the climate control though; I've heard it with the A/C on and off.
