Weird AC problem.
So i usually keep my ac on 69-70 in my 03. Sometimes, when it's hot outside, the car will cool off, and keep blowing cold air (colder than 70) you can turn the heat up to 85 and it will still blow coldest air it can. Once you turn it to 90, it switches to heat, and then if you set it back to 70, everything works just fine. has anyone else had this problem? i dont even know where to begin. Isn't there a "door" that opens up to let a little hot air in, maybe it get's stuck until you turn the heat on full blast?

yes there is a blended air system to maintain temp
Make sure nothing is blocking the sensors- see owner book for locations
Setting it at 68 should keep it nice in the summer regardless of outside temp
Have you replaced the cabin air filter- supposed to do that every year!
plugged filter will mess with the airflow--20 buck DIY

accident cars are anyones guess as to whats wrong
Cabin filter is supposed to be changed EVERY year- so a year ago doesnt count for what condition its in today
I start with basics in diagnosis then move on to strange problems with broken actuator arm for the blend door
See the repair manual thread for service book help

mine has been the same way for years - I usually keep it at 60 here in TX. If I want say 70 or 75 I have to crank it up to 90 for about 30 seconds then turn it back down and it works fine. small annoyance in a 10 year old car with 160,000 miles...

My 2003 does same thing. Has been doing it for a long time. Cabin filters are kept new and nothing blocking anything. Instead of spending money and time, I just crank up the temp to high 80's for a minute and then set it back to 70 or wherever I want it for heat and it works fine. Another Honda motor company fault.....several friends have same problem and just live with it. And just another observation; never owned a car that had so many recalls and also carries the transmission issue which is always a potential problem.
