Waxing: method and product
I was wondering, yesterday i waxed my 2000 TL for the first time lol. I've seen waxing done many different ways, but which is the best way to do it? apply the wax with the buffer and hand towel it off? or, apply the wax with an applicator pad then buff it off? Not to mention i've heard horror stories about different brands of wax and how some are harder to get off than others? what is the best combo? last night i applied the wax with the buffer and hand toweled it off, it doesn't look bad. i used turtle wax too? any suggestions??

Really depends on what product you use.
I will tell you, do not apply Zaino with a buffer. Waste of of product.
Give us an idea of:
How much $$$ you want to invest in car care products
How often you will be able to detail your car
Current condition of the paint (rough surface, scratches, etc.)

first thing you should switch to zaino. do a search on Zaino it will bring up alot of detailing info on it. If you are going to use Zaino here are the basics you should order
Z1 polish lok pre-cleaner
Z2 show car polish
Z5 swirl mark remover
Z7 car wash
Once your Zaino has arrived wash the car with Dawn dish washing liquid twice to get rid of the wax you have already applied. next get yourself a Clay Bar (Meguires ) you can get a claybar kit from Walmart right now for $10-13. Clay the entire car since you've had the car for 2.5 years I sure it will need thi badd. After you clay the car wash it again. Start using the above listed zaino products especially the Z7 every time you wash your car because there is no better car wash out there at geting the dirt off the car and restoring the shine.
whoa
thanks perrymaxima, wow that maxima looks amazing. ok and where do i order zaino from? can it be bought at stores like autozone or advanced auto? i've heard amazing things about Zaino but i've never seen it for sale anywhere. i'll do a search, thanks again everyone, maybe after i have it looking nice i'll post some pics haha

thanks NSXNEXT, i'm printing it out at school right now, i'm definitely going to go the Zaino route, after all the great things i've heard about it. what about those boar hair brushes i've seen advertised in like the Griots Magazine? i've heard great things about those too. are they worth it?
I don't know about the zaino thing... If it has been so long since your car got a wax (doesn't the manual say something about this?) I would go all out and spend short of a new paint job on products and time, Being that you are happy with the current condition of the paint, however, I can suggest you look at what a single coat of Macguires Liquid Gold can do

Zaino for sure. I bought my 2003 TL -S Navi new, so have no experience with a used car. But for my money -- and time -- Zaino is the best product that I have ever used. It goes on easy and wipes off fast. Just look at some of the many threads on Zaino. My car now has just shy of 5000 miles, I wash in once a week with Zaino concentrate, and boy does the water bead off the car. Also use the California Blade to squeege off the water. Follow up with the California Car Duster during the week. My car looks great and takes very little time to clean. Zaino may cost a bit more and be a bit more difficult to obtain, but Hey, you have a great car and why not get the best?
And my first new car was a 1961 Corvette that I got as a graduation present from High School. Sounds like a lot, but the car then was $3750 out the door!. Have had lots of car since and had lots of experience with detailing my cars. Go Zaino.
