Its Wetsanding

And nothing real special. Soak the paper in water a good 10 min before using it. Put a few drops of soap (dish soap/car wash soap) in the bucet of water that you will be using. Get a small towel/sponge to dip in the water to sprinkle on while sanding.

Well as far as the wetsanding I find it easiest to have a spray bottle with me full of warm water and a little dishwasing soap. Just wet the paper really well then spray down the area yo u are going to sand and start sanding stoping ever 20 - 30 seconds to sand down the paper and area. What you want to do is clear any of the matter you have already sanded away and continue sanding...

Make sure before you start sanding that you have what you need to polish the lights once you are done. Sanding is only the first part with a good polishing afterward they will look even worse then when you started...

Oh yeah and set up a chair by your car because you might be there for a while..

ok good just wanted to make sure you realized they needed to be polished after wetsanding. I have seen a few people wet sand then wonder why it doesnt look good afterward on a previous forum I used to be on.

I recently did this to my girls car and also her brothers car. It works awesome. I used 1500 and 2000 grit and was okay with that. I guess if they are really bad you could 1000 but as long as you finish off with 2000 it should be good. And the 3M rubbing compound and polish are the best I've used. What a difference. I did before and after pics but never posted them. Maybe you can post some after you do it.

Can you post yours? Also, do you guys sand it by hand or do you use a power sander?

Sure, I'll get them from my girls brother and post them. I didn't use a sander...did it the old fashioned way. Your arm will be a little tired but it's worth it. It'd be helpful if you could find someone to help you though.
Thanks TLSU, you beat me to it. This is the same thread that I saw that made me want to do it.
