Water leaking into trunk

Have a 1999 Acura TL. Right side of trunk fills with water. Any ideas?

If one is failing the other is also or soon will. Do them both. Same part # for both sides

Had both gaskets do it on mine. I just took the lights out and siliconed around both, no issues in over a yr.

I did the same as myacuratl10, generic black outdoors silicone tube I had laying around on the seals, and not a single issue since!

Hello
I am having similar water in the trunk issues...I have a 2004 TL...water is building up in the spare tire area. Do any of you have a detailed explanation of where to seal the tail light...Do I have to remove the back bumper etc...

You might have better luck in the 3rd gen TL forum. If it's anything like the 2nd gen, the tail lights are completely accessible through the trunk.

Yes rear bumper needs to be removed before you can take out the tail lamps.

Reseal the tail lamp gaskets if the water is entering from there.

Another area you can check is the moon roof drain hose on the left side of the quarter panel. Make sure the water is draining to the exterior of the panel.

You can check for leaks by running water over the rear end of the car with another person inside the trunk looking for the area of water intrusion.

For the moon roof you can run water in the moon roof channel on both sides slowly... Low water flow. Left side will drain to the rear behind the rear wheel and right side will drain to the front right side behind the right front wheel.
