Watching DVDs on your navi system???

I just bought my '03 TL-S a week ago and I hear about this "watching DVDs on the system". How is this done and what parts do I need to get...if there are other ppl that have done this already, can you hit me up and hook me up with some info.

You need a convertor and a DVD player. I'm not sure if it's still available... but you can probably do a search to get the information you need.

Did you ask the dealership? When I was looking for my 03 Type S, I asked one salesman that question and he said it was possible. Now, was he full of sh*t? I dunno. I didn't get the Navigation.

Is possible because the Honda version of the TL (Inspire) comes with TV, so all you need is buy the parts that come on the Honda inspire in japan. I don't know about playing DVD's on the DVD navigation system because you need a MPEG decoder that the DVD navigation system does not have.

Ya its called a RGB Decoder or something..

That receiver I mentioned ABOVE will do it all

All u gotta do is buy a DVD Player and you are good to go

You can plug your PS2 or any other video source too

It comes with a antenna to watch local channels but if u want good reception u have to buy a better one

I was just looking for a part number to do some pricing on E-Bay... $495 seems a tad high (then again it is plug and play)

guys quick questions about the tv tuner. on what date does the fcc require all free broadcasts must be sent on hdtv signal? will this unit then need an adaptor to pick up any hdtv signals?

just wondering.....

LOL, get the HDTV in your homes before you worry about it in your cars.. The full transformation will be like 2006 but by 2004 almost over half of the stations have probably already switched..

Anyways I think it wouldn't affect you, You could still get the signal it would just look diff because it would be converted from 16:9 to 4:3 or something..

If you really wanted HDTV than u would need a whole new LCD the stock Navi LCD wont be good enough, and the new LCD would have to be Wide..

I would rather spend the money on the home theatre before I make one for the car :p

Anyways People say the signal is not always good.. You have to buy the $80-90 Boosted Antenna to get better reception, and still it wont be perfect, people say if u live in like metropolitan areas u will get good receptions, and also its better if your parked or your car is still..

I dont think u will find it too much cheaper.. There are only few companys that make them so it is hard to find on eBay..

Also its $495 + $80-90 Antenna + $100-300 DVD Player..

One thing I considered was get a cheap DVD Player, I think the dvd player would be WORTH IT FOR SURE!

You can play MP3's on the DVD Player, and get a dvd player that shows ID3 tags.. Than u can play 150 Songs on one cd, See the name and etc about the song and change it with a remote, and u can see it all on the lcd

Would you buy there optional antenna or would you buy it from some where else?
Then, where would you or what brand of dvd player would you consider and where one might look for it.

Thanks for any input since I've been considering doing this mod since the splicing days and now it just got a whole lot easier.

p.s. where would you mount the optional rearview camera...
