Warranty, Lease and Self Maintenance
Hi all,
I have a questions. Is there any problems with warranty if i service car myself? Also, if I want to return the car after the 4 years lease, will i have any problems with dealer because i did mainenance myself/non dealer service?
Thanks all..
Alex.

i don't think you should have a problem unless you really screw up the car...

I have a lease, and I have the oil and service done at a local shop (Acura/Honda certified tech). As long as you have receipts, you should be fine. If you do stuff yourself, just keep the receipts for the parts you bought, so if they give you crap, you can have a paper trail.

My car is leased and I do all the servicing myself. I save the receipts for oil, filters, etc. just in case, but I don't forsee any problems. When you turn the car back in they do a fairly thorough inspection, but if you've done your [small] part in keeping the car maintained, you won't have any problems at all.
They cannot force you to take your car to any specific shop for service. Do what you can yourself and save your money.

I would agree with the other posts. I've been leasing cars for 13 years now, have always done my own maintenance, and had no questions asked. But DO save your receipts. I've heard that, should there be a major problem with the engine, they are less likely to satisfy the warranty if you can't back up your sticking to the schedule. FWIW.
