Exclamation Warranty almost out

2000TL - My factory warranty is over I think at year's end. Are there any last minute suggestions on what to do before it goes? I would hate to miss out on something I didn't know about until too late.

I waited to have the 45k service done at 48k miles and told them to inspect stuff...The rationale is that if something goes wrong with something that was supposed to have been inspected/adjusted, then the onus is back on them for all, or at worst, part of the replacement/repair cost...

Good idea. I like it. Hard for them to deny service on something they claimed to have passed inspection...

I'd complain about warped rotors, and hopefully get a new set of brake pads....if you don't mind stock brake pads.

If the siding on the doors is peeling (im not sure siding is the best word, but if you have it you'll know what part Im talking about) get it fixed before it runs out, its supposed to take a long time to fix (= expensive if you have to pay for it).

Well I know THAT feeling. My warranty ran out last month and now at 53k miles the SRS light came on. Fortunately the culprit is a sensor inside the driver's seat buckle and though its not widely advertised, the seatbelts are warrantied for the life of the vehicle so the diagnosis and repair were covered. If something big craps out on you once you go past the warranty, just remember that Acura, like all car manufacturers has a way to help out its customers with whats commonly referred to as a "customer assurance accomodation" which gives Acura "800" number customer service reps out in Torrance CA the authority to authorize a dealership to make certain out of warranty repairs that will be covered by Acura anyway. This doesnt mean that you'll get the repair automatically for free (sometimes a car maker will agree to pay for the parts and the customer just pays the labor) but in order to get anywhere YOU will usually have to initiate the call and argue your best case for having Acura cover the complaint.
The best one I ever pulled off was a few years ago to have Chrylser Corp. pay for the entire $3400 cost of a tranny replacement on a 4.5 year old car that had 70k miles (the factory warranty on the car was 3years/36k miles) so obviously anything within reason is possible but not guaranteed (or, as the saying goes, "your mileage may vary" - pun intended!)

I had my warranty run out recently on my 2000TL... THEN AT 50800 miles my tranny went(stuck in 2nd gear til 6000rpm )!!!!!!!!!

Good news for you guys! Transmissions are extended warranty for 100,000 miles. I just had to pay 300 for new transmission mounts.
And i went to pay for an extended warranty, they said after 50k miles they dont warranty i would have to go thru someone else...

Go thru the known TSB in the 2000 year and see which ones are applicable for you. If your car exhibit that feature, take it in. Check on your auto dimmer rear view and make sure it still works
