this morning while i was driving, the TCS, ABS, and some other lights came on and stayed on. I pushed the TCS button and it stayed on. i pulled over and turned the car off. when i turned it back on the lights were off.
then this afternoon i got back in the car and tried to start it, it wouldn't start at first but on my 2nd try it started up and ran fine.
I am also starting to feel the car shake and kind of struggle going into 2nd and 3rd gear. the gears feel longer and the car feels like it doesnt want to shift. is there something wrong, should i take it to the dealer?

 

Sounds like something is wrong. Bring it back to the dealer.

 

Sorry to say but it sounds like the dreaded tranny problem.

 

sorry cory but i hate to tell u..the tranny is about to go... all the lights came on my car as welll but it didnt come on until the tranny was blown. When it starts to studder going from 2nd to third is a sign

 

Just take it to the shop and have 'em look at it. Don't jump to any "thread induced" paranoia. You won't be able to sleep at night (trust me, I suffered through it).

 

Um.. i hope ur tranny is not failing.. but it could. U race too much man. racing kills the tranny!

BadazzTL...we know how you drive. A lot of people have experienced the same problems that you have and those problems eventually led to a tranny failure. Fortunately, Acura has admitted this and extended the warranty on Trannys to 7 years 100K miles. Take it to Riddle Acura...they will take good care of you.

 

Well I just took a look at the ACURA OWNERS LINK to find out about the updated Tranny Warranty. I also updated my service records on the link because I had oil change & warranty work done yesterday at the dealer. The Tranny Warranty covers all 2000-2002 TL models as well as some 2003 models. I am very happy that my car is covered. The 7/100000 warranty will do me just fine. This is the my first automatic trans car that I have owned. All of my other HONDA cars in the previos 20yrs before the TL were manual 5 speeds. I will ride the TL to hell & back its almost 3yrs old now & I won't get the 100000 miles the way I drive before I get rid of it. The ACURA OWNERS LINK has some symptoms to look out for. One of them is a FLASHING D5 indicator LIGHT.

 

man..my car never lit up anything but it stutters from 2nd to 3rd and 3rd to 4th..................its been like this for a long time. when will it blow?!? i wish it would hurry up & blow so i can get it fixed

 

yeah i know i just wish i would know if it is in fact bad so i can just get it fixed. my gauges haven't lit up any more since the other day but it still shakes going into the gears.

thats wat im saying..........im takin a road trip up to ohio from georgia in a few weeks.........i dont want to be driving and have my tranny blow its an 8 hour drive

 

I guarantee you that your tranny is about to go. Last wednesday mine blew, when changing from 2nd to 3rd, then the engine revved high and the gears would not catch and then the TCS and check engine light came on. For the week before, there was gradual slippage. Its real fn annoying to realize you put out good cash for a vehicle with a transmission defect. I hope the remanufactured unit is properly repaired with a redesign, void of this defect.

so im pretty sure its gonna blow but i dont know when or where. i hope im pretty close to home or an acura dealer

 

has anyone ever driven to the dealer with only first and third gear. i had to floor it in first so i would have enough speed to were i could go from first to third. if i didnt go fast enough the tranny would try to down shift from third to second and all it would do was just rev to the redline and i would go anywhere. it was the worst.
