Want to Hear Something Funny? (kinda long)
I already posted that my tranny went this past Sunday. The car got towed to the dealer that I bought it from yesterday. (It was a Honda Dealer) They called me and informed me that my transmission was indeed gone and that I would need another one. They then said that they would file the claim with the extended warranty that I purchased when I bought the car on the 9th of March. The service guy said that after they got the claim filed and saw how long they would need to have the car (trans delivery and installation time, etc) they would call me to see if they would need to just loan me a car or actually rent me a car. I asked him about the HONDA extended Trans warranty and if that would be easier and he said that they were aware of that one as well and that the car was eligible, so they would pursue the road of least resistance that would get my car back the quickest. I told him that I will not pay a deductible on my warranty if I could get it done with no deductible. Anyway, this conversation happened around noon. I got busy at work but noticed that it was actually 3:00 now. I called back and the service guy said that they were still working on the claim with the warranty company and that he had gotten his manager involved. I told him that I had to get a ride from my best friend to bring me over there and that I was just coming to get a loaner/rental.
I get to the dealership and my service guy tells me that the reason that it was taking so long is that they were arguing with the warranty company because they were saying that TECHNICALLY my car was not fully covered because I had not had the car for 30 days (although they were paid for the warranty when the car was purchased and they sent me the paperwork stating my date of service was 3/9/2007) I patted the service guy on the back and told him to call me when they got that straightened out and grabbed the keys to my rental Corolla. He said that they may end up taking the car to the Acura Dealer three doors down and having it repaired that way (through the Honda Manufacturer's Extended Trans Warranty) but he told me not to worry that it would get fixed. I told him that I wasn't worried at all and I appreciated his diligence.
I laughed all the way home at this BS the warranty people were pulling. I told the service guy that I was not worried because I KNOW it is not my fault the tranny didn't wait 30 days before it died, and I hadn't had the car long enough for them to even say that I did not service the car or that I beat it up. I haven't even put the first 1,000 miles on it yet. Hell, I just got my tag on last Thursday. I told him that they could let the car sit there until April 9th if they wanted to. Anyway, I thought that you guys might get a kick out of how the "Warranty" guys are trying to weasel out of covering the car by making up some BS guideline. "SIGH" I know what it is though. They are faced with covering a $3500.00 repair on a $1300.00 warranty. When they saw that claim they must have been like.. I bet the rep got from the manager when they took that claim in to be reviewed.
I am waiting to see how this all unfolds. I will keep you guys posted.

Good luck with getting this worked out. When you purchased the car wasn't there a warranty on it by default for 30 days, and with the extended warranty you should be good to go. Either way I'm sure Acura will take care of it.

Yeah, I have the dealer who warrants their cars for the first 30 days and I also have the other two warranties too. I really miss her though. I hated to see her in the back of the service lot parked out there in the sun and getting all of that pollen on her. Thanks for the well wishes guys. I have to make due with the Corolla. I mnay not be getting the acceleration that I have fallen in love with, but I am sure getting some good ole gas mileage. I can't get the needle to move on the Corolla's gas guage. OTOH, my car won't pass a gas station. LOL!!

You know what? I would have to agree!
When I hit the accelerator in the corolla, it sounds like there are a swarm of bees under the hood. The trade off is definitely not worth it. What's a few nickels in gas, eh?

Hi, I would say YOU should tell Acura of AMERICA via telephone to the Consumer/Customer Relations department that your used Honda dealer is playing games and that they are not following protocol as they are not going through Acura's GOODWILL extension to about 110000mi for trannies.

Prick of the month
The dealership really does not have any out of pocket cost in this. The whole purpose behind a warranty is almost like insurance; a lot of people pay, not all file claims. The dealer should be reimbursed by the warranty company, i.e. Honda/Acura, for the rental and parts/labor. I can't believe they gave you a corolla(I was going to capitalize it but it doesn't deserve it) , I've never been asked to drive away with anything like that. I got an RSX once, but even that beats what you got. I would certainly give Acura a call on this, I guarantee they will bust the ass of whoever is holding this up and gave you that piece of shit to drive. I would have laughed at the sight of it, then punched him for even suggesting I get in that . Enough ranting, this is from Acura's site:
Your local dealer is the first stop for any questions or concerns about your U.S. Acura vehicle. For further assistance, feel free to contact Acura Client Services. You can get in touch with us several ways:
BY PHONE
Monday through Friday, 6:00 AM to 5:00 PM Pacific Standard time at the toll-free number (800) 382-2238.
If they don't fix it, then...

Thanks for the Acura information 02, And the post. I needed a good laugh, I just came from a dental appointment where they did some surgery on my gums. I am okay right now (numb) but I don't think that I will be able to talk to anybody today over the phone. LOL! If you want a visual, I am looking a lot like this right now- I'll give 'em hell tomorrow after I take my pain medication.

I called and spoke with Acura Customer Service this morning and after talking to 4 people and giving my VIN number 4 times, I finally got a reference number and they said that a specialist would look in to it. 2 hours later, I get a call from the Service Advisor at the dealership and he says that the car has been taken to the Acura Dealership that's maybe a 10th of a mile away and they are working on the tranny. ETA is 3 days . I am still in the corolla but I won't sweat that. The dealer has an Enterprise rent-a-car inside of it, so I figured that was what it was going to be when I got there. I guess that I will wait until Saturday or Monday whenever they are finished to see how I came out. Thanks guys for the advice and the well wishes!

I have a personal bitter sentiment towards Honda/Acura with their V6 (J32/J35/J30) models from 1998-2003 (TL/Accord V6/Odyssey/CL/MDX/PILOT) with auto trannies.
Including the original tranny which only lasted 102500km (64000mi), the second unit, a rebuild lasting a meager 38000km (142500km on the odometer) and then the third unit, another rebuild all from Honda under warranty, was seemingly acting up around 101000mi (162000km) mark. It gets better, my dad's Odyssey a 1999 had its tranny only last 172000km (110000mi) before disintegrating, yet he drove everything from a few Toyotas and GMs and Chryslers and ironically came from a 1994 Chrysler minivan 3.8L to the Odyssey due to a tranny defect on the Chrysler.
All I can say is Honda/Acura need to fix these headaches for everyone and that I believe that Hondas with V6 motors need to come equipped with a stick shift especially for the VTEC happy people on here.
Ah yes, I traded my Accord for a new 06 v6 which also has more torque, but swapped that Accord for an 05 Solara with my dad mainly b/c he uses navi in the ACcord and I like the Coupe and TOYOTA reliability lol.
Anyways, where were we again.. oh yeah I can't believe that the warranty/ Honda dealer did have a bit of nerve to waste your time and give you a relatively nice, but smaller rental than what you had.

I couldn't believe that Dealer /Warranty company crap either. I intend on calling them after this is over and getting to the bottom of it. I want to know if it was Dealer BS or Warranty company BS. Either way, someone is in trouble.
I hate that so many people have suffered from these malfunctioning trannies. I took a gamble on a later build '03 and lost, but at least it happened sooner rather than later. Maybe they should start giving us the trannies from the '07 TL-S. Maybe it can hold up better.

You know what, tell Acura of America/Honda of America like u did about the tranny mess up, tell them about the warranty game one of their dealers played on you and before reporting to Acura head office, tell the dealer you are threatening to report them if they don't fix the problem ASAP. I find that Honda/Acura even head office mind you is giving a lot of HOT AIR or BU!!$hit (pardon my French lol) about transmission and how "it's such a rare occurence etc etc.
I really want to buy a Domestic again.. a midsize 3.4L or larger motor or an SUV. I find it is a complete joke when Honda/Acura who basis their reputation on BUILT Without Compromise" fails to admit or address the problem and/or manufacture a proper unit!
I have my opinion and my $0.02 x 10000000, but we'll leave it at that. Other than the transmissions it seems that there is not one other fault with the car!

Update!!!!
My tranny has been installed by the Acura dealership. They have sent it back to the Honda place but I still can't get the car because they noticed that the EGR valves were bad. Maybe I will get it back tomorrow or Thursday. I am fine allowing them to fix whatever needs to be fixed so that I can save trips back and forth to the dealership. I gave him my list of things that I was going to address at a later date since the car is spending more time there, I figured I may as well get everything looked at..

Glad your TL is finally getting taken care of.
UGH, I so regret not getting a warranty. Especially now that I discovered my 03 is out of VIN range!
