VTEC sound
i think it is all about they have DOHC and we r SOHC. And TL is lux car. so it won't allow too much engine sound to go in to it. also the lude is high rev-ing engine so it must have more engine sound. or if u want more sound when u hit VTEC range go get a SRI. it give u more (Hum....) sound when u r in VTEC range.
I think you'll hear the roar more if you get intakes and exhaust. I rather like the fact that the TL makes a very subtle "roar" when hitting the VTEC range.
On the Type-S I can actually hear two things: the "whoosh" sound at 3800 RPM (butterfly valve), and the "roar" at 4800 RPM (VTEC).

There are three VTEC flavors
Honda has three different VTEC profiles: high performance, mid performance, and economy. Examples of high performance are the NSX, S2000, and Prelude where the variable timing works on both the intake and exhaust valves. The threshold speed is the highest. All of these are DOHC designs.
The middle performance group is typified by the Accord, most SOHC Civics, and I believe the TL. The variable timing is on the intake side only and occurs at a lower speed. These are single cam engines as well.
The economy flavor is on the Civic HX where high gas mileage is the sole criteria.

Well..for some people.they love it's quietness of course..it's a luxury car. The TL is actually pretty quiet. Except when VTEC kicks it..it's actually louder then my Accord V6 with factory intake box. but...I can fix that..... :p :p vrrrrrooom vrroooom!
