Hitting VTEC is not bad at all. It was design for our cars. I VTEC more than I drive normally. So don't worry about it and enjoy the power and the sound, especially with a CAI.:wow:

You can VTEC all you want, that is what VTEC is made for. It's not like NOS where you can only uses "occasionally". VTEC is engaged at 3800 RPM i believe, so anytime ur about that RPM range, ur VTEC kicks in. Nothing bad will come from using VTEC

Um...I don't know how valid that statement is. I could be wrong but last time I checked, you don't get into VTEC range until about 5500 rpm.

The manual for the TLS says 4800 is when the VTEC is engaged.

It's a 2-stage VTEC, isn't it?

For longevity, keep your oil clean, use synthetic if you can afford it, wait until the engine is warmed up fully before nailing it and keep it off the rev limiter. Enjoy!

just change your oil every 3K miles, and if its like "most" Acuras, you will enjoy a nice resale value and no problems.

But I don't understand what you guys are saying. VTEC is on ALL the time. It doesn't "kick" in. That "kicking in" action is VTEC changing the cam profile at 4800rpm.

It is not on all the time. The standard cam is in use until more power is called for. Then the VTEC system changes over to the cam lobes that open the intake valves (on the 3.2) longer and deeper. This source of better breathing, along with more fuel give you the VTEC kick.
