At what RPM does vtec become active in the 2001 Acura TL? Thanx!

 

4500rpm on a 2000 TL

Actually, I called Honda and verified with the dealer (they showed me the service manual that the dealers have) and 2000TL VTEC engages at 5300 RPM. The people that dynoed my car thought that VTEC engaged at 4700RPM based on the chart. So to answer your question I would say somewhere between 4700 to 5300 based on my experience. Some people will tell you anywhere from 3700 to 4300...IMO this is definately off.

 

3700-4300 Is not possible under stock control. Those numbers are consistant with an Acura 3.2 CL Type S. The only way to get your VTECH to engage that low on your TL would be to purchase a VFAC from Apex or other vendors...but this will require some tuning at the dyno to see where you actually get the most benifit by engaging the VTECH sooner.
