VSA feature

I'm curious, I just read the thread "Performance of my car... wow it's good" and the author of the thread stated that before he raced the 350Z he wanted to turn the VSA off.

My question is, how does turning the VSA off affect or improve the performance at acceleration? I thought it was best to always have it on as it gives stability to the car.

You don't have the assistance of the VSA helping your steering, bringing down your rpm level until the car gets back under control, less tire spin! Try gunning it (stomping on the gas) with it on, then try gunning it w/o VSA and your tires will squeal and spin and you take off! You fly through the gears without the VSA backing off on the horses. I always turn if off when I know I'm going to run against someone. I love the option, I will say that.

Basically what our resident seminole has said...
Except, they were apparently on the road at speed the first time, which made little sense...

Just as a word of advice: I wouldn't necessarily start hunting Z's if I were you, unless you mod the ever-lovin' shi+ our of your car and find someone with IcantdrivemynewZ disease...

Good advice R10apple, I don't think that racing a Z would be an easy battle. Z's are a little far fetched for the TLS!

I totally agree... I don't think our TLs can battle against 350Zs or G35 Coupes, I was just amazed by the story.

I can say in all honesty that my car with mods will outrun a guy in my office complex in a G35c auto, yet will not outrun a neighbor's 350z track edition w/ intake and exhaust. Either of those cars are better had for me from a roll than from a stop...When I say "outrun", I mean I can put about 1 to 2 cars on him to 115mph and when I say "not outrun" I mean I drop 2 or 3 cars to the same speed (if not more with a better launch from the Z)...At speed it is about 3 or 4 cars from 45 to 115 ahead of the G35 and about 1.5 cars behind the Z from the same...
There is a silver Z here with a turbo who can put some serious distance on me...He does that leaving work every now and then to me and another guy in a lightly modded WRX I see just as often...
Even worse is a guy I met with a new GS430 and a twin turbo that is just crazy fast...He hasn't done shi+ to the suspension though so when he hit the first corner it is kinda funny watching him brake really, really hard as that thing is still somewhat of a boat...

Well I was thinking about it, and seeing as the weather affected the performance of my car to my advantage, then it would also affect his car positively too...

He for sure had an auto tranny, cause I can generally tell an auto from a manual, and he prob doesn't know how to drive. I must say though, when I turned my VSA off, I stomped the gas off the light, and pretty much had 0 spinning. He spun for about 1.5 seconds, which is what gave me that jump up head start...

Whatever, I adore my A-Spec. I'm about to go to Canadian Tire, and put exhaust tips on...Hopefully it makes my car a PHAT ride!!!
