I leave it on most of the time except in the most recent snow storm.

Why do you turn it off in the snow, is't traction control supossed to help when its slick out.

No, it's sitting in my garage right now for the Winter. I am using my '99 TL-P for my winter car and was just wondering since in my '99, TCS/VSA isn't always on

ya when you get stuck, VSA is useless. I got stuck at the end of my street. I took the turn too narrow, and ended up hitting like a mountain of snow in the middle of the road. I was slowly moving through it, but I was in a rush...so I simply turned VSA off, and slightly applied some gas, then car drove right through it. Sometimes VSA works against you, you just gotta know when it's doing so.

As far as i know, traction control is simply application of the brake to a spinning wheel, but what does the VSA do?

I believe we have speed sensors somewhere behind our wheels and when the car thinks our tires are slipping or whatever, it automatically reduces throttle.

yes vsa modulates brake and throttle at the front wheels. aside from providing traction control, it also assist a cars yawl, which is spin, like when you take a turn too sharp.
