ok, so im about to pick up this 2001 TL with 76K miles on it for $10K.... first of all would u guys say that thats a pretty good deal on my behalf? because ive been searching everywhwere for a TL with sub 100K miles and they all seem to be running around 12-13K.... what exactly should i be looking at when i go to check out the car in particular? i mean, the interior is pretty clean i guess, but the exterior he told me there are a few stratches and in the pics he sent me looks like its filled with swirl marks... it took me a while to find a black tl with black interior but looks like i finally found one

last question is, since this is an 01, its got the amber taillights. i can direct swap for the newer red/white style tail lights? and how about oem lip kit? will fit right on 99-03's? the only reason i ask is because it looks like the newer TL's have diff headlights than the 01 = different bumper i guess? any help appreciated.. thanks and looking to join the TL fammily

1 more question, im really diggin the TL-S wheels, how much do they run on avg? 3-400? cause thats how much stock rsx wheels run.. lol.. thanks

depends what condition you want them in, 3-400 sounds about right, shipping is killer tho for a set of wheels, check up in the blackmarket here for the wheels, normally some for sale.

that sounds like a decent price so long as you've checked everything out and its all in order. should check if its had any tranny problems, this car is notorious for tranny failures, but theyre covered under warranty for 7yrs/100k. test drive it, make sure it shifts smooth and accelerates well. but the major thing is really the transmission issue, if its already been replaced under warranty, theres a chance it will happen again as acura rebuilds them. many users here have had multiple problems with it.

thanks for the quick reply, yeh i knew they were notorious for tranny problems, but im just hoping the week after i buy it the tranny doesnt poop on me. lol.. im wondering if the warrenty will transfer over to me?

Oh yea.. This is a common one, but check out the oil changes, history of the car, get a report on it if you need to, tire upgrade ( if needed to be changed ), and of course the interior condition. If the previous driver was a smoker or not, the leather condition, the dash condition.. Also check the mirror ( auto dimming mirror ), if it isnt workin, make sure to get it fixed..

TL-S rims are more expensive than $300-400. Note you can find them as Accord rims, now, as they are on 06 V6 6MT Accords.

black on black is a VERY nice color. i bought by dark blue on tan for 10k and it had 90k miles...i wanted a black one but the blacks were all at least a few grand more

i got my type S wheels for 270$ with tires, you gotta search around for good deals...craigslist is a good option

if you have money definately go for at least tein basics which are 600, the next best are tein super street which run around 1000 but sometimes people sell them hear for 600-700 used

alotta of other people here are dropped on the spring/shock option. im personally on tein s-tech springs with tokico 5way adjustable shocks, total around 500

lol ok.. so basically shop around... dman i would think theres all kinds of stuff floating around for these cars since theyve been out for 99, but not much... lol

oh yeh.. is there anyway to select all the states to check for TL wheels rather than state by state? i might do tein basics.. this is just a daily driver

im pretty sure you can only search craiglist area by area, which is kinda weak

if you live in a pretty populated area like the bay area, LA, NYC, TL wheels will pop up eventually you just gotta keep searching every few days

The most important thing is the tranny issue. Check seat heaters!!! Check SportShift to make sure it works, hopefully you're getting NAvi; if not you'll be missing out.... Check seat motors back and forth, up down and recline, check the CD to see if it'l play your burned CDs (these cars don't do well with that, but it may allow you to get the price down a little bit wink wink).

Wait, when you say amber, do u mean halogen headlights? the 01 should have Xenons standard.

Man this is depressing. I have a black/black 01 TL w/59K miles on it and if that is where the price is going I am truly depressed. Thought it would be worth far more.

Make sure the car has not been in a wreck. You might want to take it to AAA and get an inspection.

Check it it is the original tranny. If it was replaced after Mar 05 then "maybe" it will hold up.
