Vibrations when stopping

I was going about 65 mph trying to get my friend with a '95 Eclipse RS to race me and we came to a light and while I was braking, my steering wheel was making a lot of vibrations. I think it might be the brake pads since I don't think they have been replaced yet. Any ideas? This has happened before a couple times, but it seems to be getting worse everytime I am going at a high speed and need to stop.

Also, I am almost at 55,000 miles (BOOOOOOOOOO) and I know that a new timing belt is needed at 60,000 as well as a tune-up. Anything else I need to check/replace when I reach 60,000?

You have warped rotors. Either get them turned or buy new ones. It will only get worse .

Are you sure the timing belt is a 60K item? I'm thinking 90K or so.

Yeah man, cut your rotors. And I think the belt is good up to 90 or 105.

You're at 55K miles and haven't change the pads yet??

Re-surface the rotors and replace the pads.

Get your rotors turned, and if they say they are too badly warped, then you might have to buy new ones.

how much is it to replace or resurface the rotors with new brake pads at acura dealership or some brake maintenance place? Curious because I'm out of warranty period and think I need this done.

Thanks for the explanation. How much would it cost for me to turn or replace the rotors? I'm thinking it's going to be kinda heavy on the wallet, eh?

Having your rotors turned is cheap...I think new ones cost around $105 each...depends on the dealer though.

Yeah, them rotors do weigh a bit--wouldn't recommend putting one on your wallet!

Looks like you can get your rotors and pads replaced under warranty.

i remember a lot of members on this site were having warped rotor problems so youre not the only one with this problem. ask the dealer if this is a common problem cause he might inform you of a free replacement BUT dont expect him to offer to it...but it never hurts to ask.

BTW, timing belts dont get replaced until 90K

I have a same problem except mine only has 7,000 miles. I only get that when I try to stop hard from 80+mph. No vibration during normal driving... I guess we'll see.
