Angry Vibrations in the break pedal with my TL-S

I have 2700 miles on my car now and have recently noticed that when I break from moderately to hard the break pedal starts to vibrate. I read the manual and it sais that sometimes when breaking hard you may feel some vibrations in the break pedal due to the pumpung of the ABS. However, it just feels very abnormal. The vibrations are just too much and I can also feel the imperfections on the road from the break pedal. If I go over a bump on the road while breaking I can feel it a lot on the break pedal. It just feels abnormal for a near luxury vehicle. I had a Honda Accord before I purchased my 2002 TLS and I never had this problem. I have already bothered the dealer with gas milege issues several times as well as for other reasons. It this point I'm looking to find out if you guys have the same problem so that I don't have to go back to the dealer and just live with the breaking issue. I'm tired of finding s**t wrong with my car. I just want to settle but I want to make sure that this is normal. Thanks.

You may have warped brake rotors. This is a problem on the CL-S. Go to the dealership and get it checked out.

I did hit a big pot hole a few weeks ago, which dented my pasenger side front rim. Could this be the cause?

I recently went to the Acura dealer for the same problem. Apparently there's a Bulletin that states the rotors warp prematurely or something. Anyways, I basically got free new brake pads and rotor turning for FREE under warranty and I have 32.5K miles. So anyone who's steering wheel pulsates or shakes during braking can get fixed under warranty.

If the pot hole was big enough to dent your rim, it probably also bent your rim. If you've got a bent rim, this could be causing what you describe. You may also have messed up the alignment. Probably couldn't hurt to have a front-end shop have a looksee.

Of course, if you feel a "pulsating" when braking, then warped rotors are most certainly the problem. Especially if you don't feel it when just driving.

Unhappy

The rim only got a half inch dent on it. The impact did not bend the rim. I recently went on a long trip to Toronto from NYC and the ride felt smooth on the highway. Additioanlly, I suspected that the impact or the dent may be causing the break problem so I rotated the rim to the rear. And I still have the same problem.

My major concern is that when I break moderately to hard, I can feel the bumps on the road from the break peddal, and that doesn't feel good at all. It feels like the breaks are going to explode and can't take the preasure. That really sucks. I like the car a lot because of it's speed, the navi and the fact that it looks nice, but the fact that it was built in the US significantly compromises its reliability. I feel like I don't trust the car's craftmanship. For example, I now see smoke stains on the chrome tips of the muflers. Emmediately, I'm thinking that there might be an emmessions problem since I'm not getting good milege in the city. If I hadn't experience small little problems before I wouldn't have thought anything of it.

One of the problems I have encountered occured just two days after I purchased the car. Both my head lights foged up internally due to rain. Now that sh*t isn't right for a 2002 Acura TL-S. Things like this as well as the sh*t with the breaks lead me to beleave that there might be other things wrong with the vehicle that I may not know about. This sucks. I'm affraid that if I take the car back to the dealer, they are going to see the rim and say that this problem was caused by the impact and may charge me for the repairs. In this scenareo, I'd rather fix the problem elsewhere to save on costs.

Haha..you're really worrying too much now. I trust my dealership but it also doesn't hurt to learn about cars so you don't have to worry about being screwed over. Just take it to the dealer and see what they say from there.

Its true man I am going bananas, I doubt every little thing now. I guess it'll go away with time. The thing is that I had a 1990 Honda Accord before the TLS for 5 years. I never had any problems at all (except I had to change the muffler once) with that car in the 5 years I had it. In the nearly two months I had the new one, I've had many little problems. Ohh well, I'll get over it.
