Very Important....please Read!!!!!!!!!!
I got the following letter in the mail today and it says:
Warranty Extension: EGR System Clogging
Dear 3.2TL Owner:
Early last year, you should have been notified of a Product Update Campaign involving the Positive Crankcase Ventilation (PCV) system and the Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) system on your vehicle's engine. The EGR system could become clogged, causing the Malfunction Indicator Lamp (Check Engine light) to come on.
Warranty Extension Details
After studying the causes and frequency of EGR system clogging, American Honda has decided to cancel the Product Update Campaign. To provide protection in the unlikely event your vehicle should experience this problem, the warranty coverage for EGR system clogging is being extended to 8 years or 80,000 miles, whichever comes first. If the Check Engine light should come on, take your vehicle to any Acura dealer. If they determine that the cause is clogging of the EGR system, they will repair it at no charge for parts or labor.
What to do if you feel this notice is in error
Our records show that you are the current owner of a 1999 3.2TL. If this is not the case, or the name/address information is incorrect, please fill out and return the enclosed, postage-paid Information Change Card. We will then update our records.
If you have questions
If you have questions about this notice, please call Acura Client Services at (800) 382-2238.
Sincerely,
American Honda Motor Co., Inc.
Acura Automobile Division
Is this in any way related to all the dying trannies? I thought it happened to the 2002's only. I have a 99 TL with over 57,000 miles and my tranny is fine so far. My check engine light has never came on. I am going to give them a call to make sure.
So did anybody else receive this letter?

This happened to my 1998 Accord EXV6, which was repaired even though it was out of warranty. The only thing that happened physically to the car is that annoying check engine light came on.
I just received the same emissions warranty extension on my Accord. Haven't any problems yet, but good to know it's covered since I'm a few k away from 36k. The letter implies it effects owners of 1999-01 Accords. I guess they redesigned the system for 02? I'll assume this part of the emissions system is the identical on Accords, TLs, and CLs.
Thanks for posting the message BlackShadow.... the minute I read "Warranty Extension:EGR Sytem Clogging" I knew exactly what it was about.

I knew about this, before I got the letter. I did get the letter a few days ago.
This only affects 99 TL's. I has to do with the EGR port get's clogged. The only solution as of now is to clean the port. Acura is working on making a permanent solution. I had my EGR port clean 3 times already.
The reason this does not affect any other TL, but just the 99 TL. Is because of the manifold design....The 00' TL's and up have a different manifold with a bigger EGR port.

BTW Bitium, since you got yours cleaned 3 times already, is it fixed? What was wrong with it?
It just gets clean. Nothing is wrong. The car performs the same. The permanent fix is so it does not happen again. It's just carbon monoxide build up. I think.

Just to let all Canadian TL owners know, I talked to a service rep at Richmond Acura. He is aware of the warranty extension and told me that Canadian drivers are covered, but it is mainly directed at US drivers. He stated that if the problem occurs, it will be repaired under warranty. That's good news for all Canadian TLers. Just make sure you don't forget about this, as this problem may still happen to you.
This makes no sense at all.

I'm going to drive to Canada, so I'm less vulnerable to this issue.

LOL, you should've taken the car to the dealer about 30000 miles ago
Try either Keys in Van Nuys or Acura 101 West in Calabasas, both give good service.
If you just want them cleaned, i can give you the phone number of an independant Acura specialist on Ventura Blvd who charges decently.

Thanx tracer...the thing is...I did take it in to the dealer and they said that there was no recall or TSB on the EGR...So, they said I had to pay like $450 for the service...The funny thing is, I think some one posted the service department instructions for putting in the new EGR kit, and the dealer's description of the the procedure was exactly like the written instructions...Even funnier is that on the notice with the instructions, it stated that the procedure is done when a customer comes in for the EGR warranty repair...I thought Thomas Acura was good, but they tried to rip me off and have me pay for a warranty job.
I'll give Keyes a try...But don't you think they'll have me go back to the dealership that I had gone to when my car WAS covered under the warranty?
Thanx
