Question V-Tech Controller and Comptech Header, a good combination???

I propose a theory and let me know what you think?

If the headers from CT produce the most results at higher RPM's such as 4500 and above and the largest power gains come in during the V-tec powerband wouldn't a device such as the controller where you could have the Vtec effect come on lower be invaluable to getting the headers to be more effective and efficient at a lower RPM range??? (run-on sentence, lol)

The headers basically allow better airflow out of the engine which is basically "uncorking" HP and Torque. Therefore, if you get the Vtec to come on lower and therefore the pump (engine) is putting out more airflow wouldn't that scavenging be optimally utilized and thus more HP come on at a lower RPM range, a more useable around town range perhaps like the 3,500 - 4,500 range instead of up around 5K.

Thoughts, ideas, and of course criticisms????

You have to remember that VTEC is not some kind of turbo. The engine is optimized to switch over to VTEC at a certain rpm to create optimal A/F ratios and other various parameters. Of course, this is in stock form. With the addition of headers, parameters may have been changed, and that VTEC crossover may not be optimum at the factory settings. However, with just headers, I doubt the A/F ratios and other parameters have changed significantly to merit a change in the VTEC crossover. That is why VTEC controllers are usually one of the last mods people do, to smooth out the power band and optimize all the mods they have. Hope this makes sense.

Most guys who have lowered the VTEC point found it decreased power, so they left it back at the factory settings. You can open up the valves longer and wider with the VTEC cam, but you can't do anything enough else to help. This slows down the airflow - ninty five percent of the time the system is matched perfectly, headers just help at the top end...the factory can't afford them on every car, also they may fear alittle lose of low end torqe.
