Angry Using Stock Navi Unit in Europe

Does anyone know if it is possible to convert the navi unit to read european nav dvds. I researched this to no end and still have no more answers then when I started. I've tried dropping in the euro nav dvd from a european accord (U.S. TSX) but the system comes back with a disc read error. Alpine and Acura of America have been absolutely no help. Any suggestions or comments would be greatly appreciated.

I think it has to do something with the positioning unit and the coresponding satellite. The satellites that serve us here in the US are only for the US, so the nav units in our cars have different positioning devices installed in them. My cousin who lives in Rochadale, UK and imports Skylines, Evos, Imprezas from japan had the same trouble as well. He imported a Nissan Cima ( USDM Infiniti Q45) last year and the nav unit didnt work in that car as well, some research showed the fact that i just stated above.
