Arrow Using SS and shifting into 3rd.

A post at the CL forum by WebToker was made about the SS shifting from 2nd to 3rd.

I wanted to find out if that is a problem with the TLs as well. When using SS, and you try to shift from 2nd to 3rd, it takes me a couple times before it shifts. Has anyone else experienced this?

Dude, sorry to here about the tranny problems. I haven't had the problems but there seems to be many posts about tranny issues.

yes, I have that exact problem. I'm told it's a characteristic of the grade logic transmission and it's normal. it SUCKS big time though!

Ask your dealer about it and let me know what they say. I'd be very curious about what other places say. I'm going to show it to the guys at Park Ave when I do my service to see if they agree.

I have more details about what exactly happens as well as what I think it is, but don't feel like typing them right now. You have the exact same problems and what I've come up with isn't exactly ground breaking...

I hate it when it does it cuz I end up sitting there reving like a biotch in second. That or letting of the gas, and then trying it again. This happens just about every time I use SS. I though it was because I wasn't pushing the shifter up all the way, but it happens no matter how hard I shift it.

But it's definately not smooth. I guess it isn't exactly like a manual. I'll have to ask about it the next time I'm in for some service.

I got that problem as well... I thought it was because I shift too early, or didn't push the shifter all da way up... But I after few times, I notice that it's the problem with the tranny...

But dealer said that they can't reproduce the problem so they can't & won't fix it...

WTF, bunch of A$$HOLES... Acura service sucks... I'll never buy again... sorry just venting, but put yourself in my shoe and you will understand...

I took the service manager for a ride and WAS able to reproduce the problem ever single time I shifted 2-3. He said it was normal. I'll think it's normal when I hear that from Jens.

Jens! You out there? We need your opinion!!

I rarely use SS... but I've made 15 or so 1/4 mile passes using SS to keep the car in 2nd until just before the limiter and it always shifts right when I tap it. If I tap it when the tach needle shows 6500RPM it doesn't touch the limiter at 6600... so mine definitely works.

Cool

the problem could be exclusive with the s-type tranny. my 99 TL is at the dealer having some mods done, and i have a cls type loaner for the week , and have noticed that there is definately an issue using the ss and shifting 2nd to 3rd. slight jump, like it's slipping? does'nt happen every time though, can't put my finger on it?, but i know that it does'nt happen with my 99. 99 is smooth no probs, but i envy you s guys, jumping from a 99 tl to a new cls for a week is such a tease! opens up sweeeet...super quick! would love to put the cls driver seat in my TL, she really wraps you up :-) sofla, see you sat!kman156

I have a non Type-S TL as do all of the people that responded I think. The more that I hear that others are having this problem the more I realize that I'm not going to ever get this fixed.

Still going to have them check it out though.

I'm with Acura3200. Always get the tech or service manager to take a ride with you because lots of time " unable to duplicate the problem" is a cop out and before you know
it the warranty is out then a major problem happens, you might have to pay!!

Never had any problems... It did happen to me once that I was in D4 and I punched the car from standstill and the car refused to shift into second gear from first... I was like WTF? Looked at the display and I wasn't in SS mode....I let off the gas and went back on and it shifted.... Only happened to me once.. never repeated...

That's why I called all models after the 99 "floaty" when it comes to the SS. It's like the car doesn't car that i just shifted it. 4 speeds that listen to me or 5 speeds that don't give a sh*t...
