Lightbulb USA Today

In the Life section of today's USA Today (07/13/01), there's a favorable review of the TL.

Anybody read it? Finally our ride's getting the respect and view it deserves!

Old Car and Driver article

This isn't the first. In case none of you have seen it. Here's an article in Car and Driver from last year where the TL was compared against other "near luxury" cars. The 2000 TL came out on top. Acura must've been reading because the few cons that were listed about the car, seem to have been addressed with the Type-S

In the USA Today article they say that the 2001 model had a four-speed automatic.. That's not right is it? My 2000 has a five-speed.

Thumbs up

I have been saying this for years ok since 99'. Come on even the 01' chevy Impala that I'm driving (rental) has automatic headlights. They also have to do somehting about the steering columm! Oh and all windows one touch up/down plus sunroof.

* The steering column adjusts only up and down, not in and out, and it's manual, not power-operated.

* Tire noise in Type-S is a bit higher than on some other luxury sedans -- but you get better traction in return.

* Heating and cooling are single-zone. If you like it cool and your passengers like it warm, could be tense.

* Headlights aren't automatic.

* Interior materials don't have the hang-the-expense rich texture and feel of some luxury cars.

The article is wrong. '99s were four speeds. '00-'02 models are five speeds.

It has more gears
You guys that got them look for that extra gear in there.
Maybe ACURA put a 6th speed in the car & forgot to tell you about it.

That's one "feature" I don't miss. I like controlling my headlights.
