USA SPEC iPod Adapter Help

Hi everyone. Let me first say that in my Google searches I've stumbled across here with much helpful information, and now I've registered to ask a question of my own.

I have a friend with a 2001 Acura 3.2TL and a tape adapter which she's unhappy with. She wants me to help her find and install an iPod integration kit and through my research I've decided the USA SPEC one is ideal for our situation. I've found an example on Crutchfield and called their help line which was able to tell me that if I had no navigation or factory CD changer but the ports for the CD changer it would work.

Could someone help me by verifying that the following product should work the the following head unit in the attached picture? The other, bigger, question, is how I would get to the iPod? Normally I'd think of hitting a source button, but would I need to hit the CD button twice?

Thank you very much!

Thanks for the tip. Which one specifically do you have? I checked their compatibility list and for Acura TLs it only lists Gateway 100 and 300 but neither of those seem to use FM.

After looking up the User Manual for the USA SPEC and talking to a Crutchfield rep, I placed an order for it. Thanks for the help, especially to those threads on this forum that I turned up in search results before even posting this one.

i have the usa spec ipod adapter. it works fairly well, but sometimes it will crap out on you and you'll have to re-input the radio code. and sometimes the code doesn't work, so i'd have to pull the radio fuse and back in for it to reset itself. this happens usually once every 3 months, don't know why. maybe its just the nature of how it communicates with the oem radio. i'll be upgrading to a double din radio soon.

Thanks for the heads-up. I've heard of reports of other adapters doing that but no the USA SPEC one. I'll pass the info along once I install it for her.

I have the USA Spec also and love it. You retain the steering wheel controls so you can change songs easily. As kbye said, I also have had to input the radio code. That's happened maybe twice in 2 years.

Oh and the CD button toggles between the OEM radio and USA Spec. Once in USA Spec, CD5 is the ipod input and CD6 is the 3.5mm input. Just an FYI
