Upgrade: Differences 02TL-S vs 03 TL-S

Hey guys... I am thinking about upgrading from my 1999 TL-p to a 2002TL-S.
I am still somewhat of a noob..

1) Can you guys please let me know if there are any major differences between the 02tl-s and 03 tl-s?
2)And if there is anything I need to watch out for on a 02TL-s?

I take it the 02 tls still have the tranny problems... anything else i need to know about?

BTW- the car im currently looking at is a 2002 Acura TL-S. It has navigation, OEM body kit, OEM spoiler, and 80k miles. The guy is asking $15,500.

(please dont clutter up my thread with, "SEARCH"... as i have already done that.)

I don't think there is any differences, but a couple of concerns.
1. Is the 99 TL paid for?
2. The price is a bit high but sounds like a sweet looking ride
3. Are you getting it from a dealership, if so get an extended warranty.

2003 models have onStar, 02 does not.

You can tell by looking above the rear window and seeing if the little black rubber antenna is there or not. That's all the differences I know of.

OnStar on the '03 (if equipped with Navigation).
Perforated leather on the door covers.

That's pretty much it. The '03 was virtually a complete carry-over from '02. Nothing special that you would miss out on.

One thing to watch out for with a 2003 TL is not all of them are covered by the 7 year/100,000 mile extended warranty on the transmission. (All of the 2002 TL models are covered.)

If you're unsure about the one you're considering, call Acura with the VIN number and they can tell you if it's covered.

1. yes paid for
2. out here in cali, i think that is a great price... all the dealers have the same model w/out the body kit, spoiler, navi for about 18-22k.. DAMN RIPOFF
3.private seller, it comes with extended warranty until 100k. or 2 more years i think. when it is out, ill just get an extended warranty through my parents credit union

You only have 20K left on the Acura warranty so I wouldn't get this unless you can get an extended warranty ..just my opinion.

as a reference for you i bought the same car as you for $500 cheaper (02 tl-s, navi/oem kit/spoiler) ... with 10,000 miles less... you should be able to get it in the mid 14's if you negotiate it right.. well provided the seller is leaving room for negotiation

Hey CaliChris,

Yeah that sounds like a steal! Especially how the prices are around Nor Cal! I'm curious, where did you find it? I ended up buying one this past saturday at a little independant dealer in downtown San Jose. I originally wanted to buy one at the local Acura dealer litterally a block from my house, but they were hard asses! Is that the way it is a all Acura dealers? It was idential to my car with 10K more and it was certified. They originally wanted 20,800, but it was marked down to 18,900 on a red tag sale. I told them $17,500 was my highest offer and then wouldn't go for it. So I just walked.

I had to finance so if I would of had the cash in hand I bet they would of taken it. Oh well, they lost my business.

Good luck on the sale!
