Uneven exhaust fix
Uneven exhaust fix
I am having trouble finding a fix for the 2002 TL exhaust appearance. Would it be possible to poll users here to find out who has had this resolved and the dealer where you had the service performed? I would like to rattle the cages at my local dealership and get my ride more Acura. Thanks a bunch.
I took two radiator hose clamps and simply connected the two hangers(one on the exhaust, one on the frame) with the clip, then adjusted accordingly.. I raised it higher up closer to the bumper, it looks quite good..I clamped the two hangers right behing the rubber that holds the exhaust to the frame.

Shoofin'TL- thanks for the great idea!
tgif- My sentiments exactly. However looked for service at two dealerships in this area, both went out to their lot and looked at the others they had and determined this was normal and that they came from the factory that way with no adjustment. Therefore no fix. How do you like that?

I found an easy way to do this at home; took about 15 minutes.
All one needs is a 14 MM socket, extension, and WD-40.
1. Raise the rear of the car evenly enough that you can get under
the rear mufflers and back of the cat convertor.
2. Loosen the two rear mufflers from the intermediate pipe.
3. Loosen the three bolts on the back of the cat convertor.
4. Adjust the rear mufflers/intermediate pipe to where they look
right (use a jack or helper)
5. Retighten the three bolts on the convertor
6. Tighten the muffler bolts one side at a time.
7. Drop the jack (or helper) from the exhaust.
Voila, perfect exhaust. Took almost as long to write this post as to do the fix. If you are mechanically inclined and patient, this one is easy.

Like Shoofin, I used a hose clamp. Instead of using 2 I used one large one and put it around the rubber and the hangers. There is a hanger at the front and rear of the muffler, one clamp on the front hanger and tightened until it raised the muffler even with the other.

From: where the weather suits my clothes
I just took a 1 foot piece of galvanized pipe, 1" inch diameter. I removed the rubber hanger from the frame side. Slid the hanger bracket into the middle of the pipe and bent it down.
My one exhaust was too high. It actually melted the underside of my body kit a little bit.
All fixed now. Cost: about $3.00 for a length of pipe, which I promptly returned. So cost me nothing.
And I did it myself, which is the best feeling.
