what is this and the benefits?

It's one of those things that is totally useless, except that it looks good.
It's overpriced, and it's great for making your wife say "Why do you need that?"
But it finishes off the looks of the car. I don't know the exact price, as my dealer gave me a "package" price that included the deck spoiler (another useless device that looks good [to some]).
