TypeS intake manifold will not fit on a 99 TL... details inside
Well I spent today test fitting the TypeS intake manifold and low and behold it will not fit. Seems as if the fuel rails are getting in the way. I did some research and it appears the fuel rails/injector bases are different on a TypeS than a 99 TLP.
It needs about another 3/4" of clearance to seat properly. I considered getting the spacer for the MDX, but if you look below you'll see that the CLS intake manifold is already an inch taller than the TLP. If I were to add the spacer, the hood wouldn't close.
I guess the only feasible option is to see what the CLS fuel rails look like to see if they are angled more outward to allow the intake manifold to seat properly.
ANYBODY IN THE EAST WINDSOR AREA WANNA LET ME LOOK AT THEIR TYPES (CL or TL)?
Here's the diagrams for the fuel rails and injector bases. The injector bases look the same but the fuel rails are definitely different.

Wish I could help you, I am in northern NJ but I have a 99tl. I am having some fun today myself, replacing a broken wheel stud. Those rotors screws are kicking my butt, went to sears bought the bigger hammer I could find and together with my Pb and impact driver ..... .....BAM!!!! Good luck, I need some too.

Neil, I'll be back home over thanksgiving. If your around that week-end, I'm gonna be heading down your way so I could swing by and you could measure the fuel rails. The CL-P and CL-S are listed as the same part# for the injector bases so you should still be able to get the measurments you need.

Yup, I believe the 99 is the only one that's different.
So would it just be the injector base? It looks like I'd need different fuel rails too.

Im guessing that the injectors are different as well as the rail. Lookin at the part #'s they have different injector #s but am unsure if they are indeed different. The good news is brand new all 6 are only 51 bucks so if you could pick up the rail with them for a good price it shouldnt be that bad. The rails look like they are the same TL-P to TL-S and are only 49 each new. so id imagine you could get a good deal on them used

Gotta call Acura to see if the injectors are indeed different. I'm thinking they are the same.
