Pretty good race, as it is power versus agility. But lets call this race a Type S versus a 6spd- both non-navi.

Overall, a Type-S obviously has more power/acceleration, but the TSX can manuever curves and is better balanced. I think it might come down to the driver.

Umm, I think a TLP would beat a TSX on anything other than slalom.

i think that would be the perfect match for someone who is lookin for a sporty 4-door vehicle but not as luxurious as a TL

i went against friend's automatic RXS-S with my '99 stockperformance TL and it was really close... we both got stopped by a redlight but he was actually behind me most of the way... traffic was mid-light.

I've never seen a TSX on the road...what do those pack...200ponies right?

I drove an auto one as a loaner when my 02 tls was getting 30k service and was impressed. It really suprised me...very nice handling and a good feel and look from behind the wheel...and while the power is 50 some odd horses less, it didn't feel like it too much.

There was never an automatic RSX-S, only six speed. The TSX has a 2.4 with 200 horsepower. It's I-VTEC though, so a lot of torque is available down low.

TSX
Top speed : 145 mph
0-60 mph : 7.0 sec.(manual)
0-¼ mile : 15.5 sec @ 90.0 mph(estimated)
60-0 braking distance : 130 ft(estimated)
200 ft skidpad : 0.78 g

the type-s does the 0-60 in about 6.4-6.5 and the quarter in the hig 14s...therefore the TSX doesnt have anything on it...

for its class, the TSX is quick however

Even the regular TL can beat the TSX.

The K24 in the TSX is pretty impressive.
Plus, there's bound to be a huge aftermarket for it considering most parts from its brother the RSX.

Induction systems like Turbo kits are readily availble for this platform. I wouldn't be suprised to find a turbocharged TSX lurking the streets soon.

The tsx's powerplant is awesome, and just wait for the mods coming out for it. But i have raped 3 manual tsx's with my modded TL-P. When i say raped i mean it was like 10 to 15 car lenghths especially on the highway.

Those numbers being very optimistic for the TSX all other I have seen had slower times than that for the manual, like 7.7 sec or so.

TLS 260hp
TSX 4banger and only 200hp (probably the old prelude engine)

Why wold you get a 200hp 4cyl, when the Mazda 6 is 220, v6, 6-speed manual

Wait two years when the TSX has an optional V6 / or type -s. Then it would be neak and neak with the Mazda 6 but much higher is quality and styling.

Umm, no it wouldn't. The years the Type-S was made (2002-2003) the regular TL was referred to as the TL-P. Now since, there's only one model, it's simply the TL.

The engine in the TSX is a 2.4 liter I-VTEC, old prelude had a 2.2 VTEC. The Mazda 6 has a Ford engine, and I'm not buying any ford engine that isn't developed with Cosworth.

I think he meant the 04 TL would outmanuever the TSX

That 4 banger in the TSX feels as fast or faster than the old Accord V6 engines with 200 hp. I was pleasantly surprised when I got one for a loaner.

I was trying to say is that a faster TSX or a 6 cycl TSX would essentially be a TL. Same platform.

The TSX engine bay wouldn't be able to fit a 6 cylinder engine. At least no 6 cylinder engine that Honda currently makes.

That said, the demand for the TSX has been a lot greater than Acura ever anticipated. The TSX was meant to be a niche market car that would fill the gap between the RSX and the new TL.

Rumors are that its been selling so well, that execs in Honda have been considering releasing a performance version of the TSX with AWD and a Turbo. Supposedly they're currently testing a Japanese Honda Accord Type-R (aka TSX in the USA) with 250hp and AWD.
