Smile Two thing missing in the TL-S

I think there are two things missing out of the 3.2TL Type S:

Side Markers and the Seats out of the CL Type S. Why in there world did they make our seats different??

What is the difference between the 3.2TL seats and the ones in the CL. I did not even sit in the CL because I was not interested in that model. Never even compared the two.

the seats on the CL-S look a lot beefier and more comfortable compared to the TL-S from looking at the pictures.

The CLS's seats are much more comfortable because I believe it is wider and longer compared to the TLS. But overall I can live with the TLS. It is way better compared to my old accord. Oh yea, the CLS have sidemarkers?? Where??

The CL seats are more bolstering on the sides like a sports car. The sales rep told me that the TL-S is more bolstering than the regular TL but just not as much as the CL-S. I agree though. The CL-S seats are more appealing to me.

Dual zone air conditioning would be a nice feature, but I would rather have that cool feature that some of the Mazadas and Lexuses have...a automatic swiveling front vent.

The few things that I had before that I don't have with my TL-S are dual zone AC, daytime driving lights, and light sensing auto on-off headlights.

Side airbag curtains would be nice too. The Passat and BMW have them as standard. It's an option on Maxima. Why not on the TL? The side airbags included now are not going to protect your head!

Many mfrs. have differnt seat configurations for coupes vs. sedans.

It is a marketing thing, based on the targeted demographic of the buyer: age, marital status, projected dimensions of butt cheeks, etc.

There's no such thing as perfect, but there seems to be a lot of improvement in the TL Type S over my 1954 Dodge coupe (although the Dodge did have a standard cigarette lighter).

You are absolutely right Darla, there is no perfect car, but it is just fun to strive for it. Example: we complained about no fog lamps and guess what the 2002 has now?

It's missing,

- All windows one touch up/down.
- Sunroof one touch open/close.
- 14 way driver power seat
- Tilt/telescoping power steering column, linked to driver's seat memory and with easy-exit feature.
- Auto-dimming left-side mirror
- Infrared-reflective glass helps reject radiant heat. Laminated side glass helps reject UV rays.
- Driver-selectable light-sensing auto-on headlamps
- 4-way sun sensor helps compensate for the effects of directional sunlight on the occupants.

A few other useful options would be:
13 speed Waring blender for mixed drinks, Solar/Atomic clock, Zeppelin detector, dog leash holder (to go for morning walks), Flashlight-powered sundial for evening/nighttime use (to compensate for clock failure), wild bird feeder. Lord , the list of "forgotten" options is seemingly endless.

Just a note... I have the dual zone climate control in my 2-door BMW M3. Let me put it this way... It's useless!!!! Totally, utterly useless. Perhaps in a much, much larger car, with a more sophisticated system... Bot not in the likes of BMW 3-series or the TL/CL. Than again, it's just my opinion...

Oh, forgot to add to the list of missing features:
1. Vertical take-off system
2. Guided missile launcher
3. Toilet paper holder
4. Sattelite dish
5. Light-saber compartment (you know, to be uncospicuous)

I think the TL-S is great as it is, but, to answer the original posters question, features I've had on other cars I miss on the TL-S are:

-the steering wheel controls should be lit

-I would opt for a hand operated parking break rather than foot operated

-I'm lazy, I like a trip computer to calculate MPG etc.

None of these omissions are faults with the car though. Every car is a compromise of some sort. The TL (TL-S) is the best compromise of value, luxury, and performance out there.

Feliz: I like the way you think. You hit the idea right on the spot.

Darla: I like your cander...keep it up!!

I don't want a toilet paper holder...I really don't want to know what the other owners here do in their TL-S...this is getting scary.

bahreeTL: Absolutely great idea!!! I should have jotted it down myself. I am a absolute believer of AWD!!!!!!!

I realy like the Zeppelin finder, but new ideas (or perhaps older ones) are tough to find support for. Frankly. the dog-leash bumper post has the beagle somewhat cranky in the morning! We're working on a combination Zeppelin/Beagle mix, but it's a slow go as of now. As technology moves along (as well as Zeppelins & Beagles), the idea will be re-posted/updated.

Who cares about safety??? Lets just remove all airbags, crumple zones, safety cage, seat belts and anti lock breaks? We must be planning to have an accident with all that stuff. Remove all that stuff and the car will be much cheaper too.

Come on, safety should be at the top of your list. I bought the TL-S because it's a fantastic car. As consumers, if we demand more, we will get more. That's what the free market system is all about. If all consumers were like you then all the safety features mentioned above would not be in your TL-S.

In the future most cars will have side airbag curtains. BMW, Passat, and Nissan among others has the jump on Acura and there's no excuse for that!

How about more VROOM and better TQM?? No mean to be picky, but Acura can do better...

How many true sports cars/sedans has a FOOT parking brake?

Forget about a 6-spd manual!

The HID headlight/halogen driving lights combo looks really cheesy...either have REAL fog lamps OR xenon driving lights.

At least I was being realistic. They could put all that stuff on our cars. At least as an option. Oh yeah I forgot the AWD and 6-speed manual. Wouldn't you like those options?

Cool

I don't like the foot parking brake either. But what the TL-S is REALLY missing is a pause control for the CD player. Even a mute button would do. You are driving along minding your own business and your mobile phone rings. You are using an earpiece/mic combination so you don't have to take your hands off the wheel to hold your phone. But you can't hear because of the music you're playing. You can turn the volume down using the steering wheel controls but after your call is over you can't resume listening where you left off, plus, you have to reset your listening volume again. What if you're listening to an audio book CD? You've lost your place and now have to find it again. What's up with that? Bose can design speakers and sound systems but they haven't heard of the pause feature? I personally find it incredibly annoying, proving you can't please all of the people all of the time.

Just FYI, the people at the CL board have been mentioning that the side bolsters rub against the door and that it's causing the leather to get chafed or tear.

eztider - that happens to me all the time. I just reach over and turn the stereo off when I get a call. When you turn it on again, the CD will pick up where it left off, same volume and everything.

Hey thanks Mikester. I'll do that from now on. See I knew there was a reason to keep checking this board!

Just an observation about the side bosters of the CL-S. It does get annoying after awhile cuz they stick out far enough that every time you sit into the driver's seat, you bump into it...while the TL-S, you just sit right in w/o always bumping into it.

My friend just bought a CL-S and after a few times of sitting into it, it started to get old. It's worse when you're tall.

Personally, the TL-S's seats are fine Just my .02

This is a small "should have", and I haven't seen it mentioned on any other posts. The Homelink transmitter buttons should be lit. It's difficult to quickly find the correct button in the dark.
