turning highbeams into "city lights"

Anyone know if there is a write up somewhere on how to set up the vehicle to use the high breams as city lights and the bulb size? My guess is to just cut and splice into the parking lights, but would there be a way to have it were they come on as soon as the car is turned on? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

thanks

vic

ohh, you mean kinda like daytime running lights? the high beams come on at 1/2 power with no other lights coming on?

Cool

Yeah, daytime running lights.

I would also be interested in this. I installed DRL Kit (all it does it turn the high beams on at 1.2 power) on to a elantra. Was pretty easy.

http://www.autobarn.net/des20013.html This is the kit i used, 3 wire splice.

Just drive with your low beam lights on for safety
Otherwise look in the DIY section and the Sponsored Sales threads for parts needed

You DO NOT want to tap into your parking lights. Like above get a DRL kit

are you talking about "city lights" that use a 194 small bulb that put a glow into the housing..I've seen people with yellow, hyperwhite, blue, purple and other lights..not on a tl, but on civics and stuff like that. Its similar to the small 194 bulb in the housings of older Jetta's and Golf's that are actually their parking lights

hmm. interesting. I wanted to do something like this a while ago but instead of using that kit as DRLs I wanted to use the high beams as fogs lights. Something like the 04 and up TLs

sorry I ment running lights.. your correct on that term. city lights are 194 bulbs that light up a small mist of light in the headlights. But I am deffinantly learning towards the drl kit.
