turned on car today and the car just didnt do anything, maintaince and whole bunch of ligths came on car is on too but i changed gear it wounldnt fall, then i turned it off and and turned it on again, everything back to normal, tranny problem???

It can't be the battery since all the lights came on. Could be the starter or alternator.

You changed gear? Did the starter crank, did the motor start? I don't understand if you mean the car started but the tranny didn't engage.

 

Could be a problem with the security chip in the key. Sometimes it doesn't get recognized....

sometimes the fuel pump needs some time to wake up...

 

well, it could have been because the car was cold, i turned on the car car, car is on, but i put it in D5 and it doesnt fall physically in gear, but doesnt fall in the gear box.

 

Sounds like you better head off to the dealer. My tranny has always engaged no matter how freaking cold. All those dash lights probably mean a problem.

 

Not really, if you turn the key in the ignition one click, all the dash lights come on.

I think the poster needs to clarify things, and provide us some more info. I dont understand what he meant by he changed gears and it refused to fall. Did the starter crank up and the motor refused to turn over??

Did he turn the key and absolutely nothing happened after the first click??(could be interference with the chip in the key)

what i mean is, i turned on the car, lights all came on and stayed on, i put it in gear D5 and the car wouldnt move, so i shut off the car and turned it on again, car acts like nothing has happend.

 

footbrake was on? i dunno... that wudnt really be a transmission problem though... im still confused as to what really happened.

you turned on the car, it turned on fine (but all the lights stayed on?)... u sure it turned on cuz sometimes u might think the car is on but its not (car is damn quiet)

okay so then u threw it into D5, pressed the gas and the car didnt move?? check footbrake, check for anything perhaps under the tires blocking... umm... is the car on???

and then u turned off the car, and started up and it worked or not?

 

nothing was blocking the tires, car was on, i can Race it but the car was not moving and the hand brake was not on, its just not moving, but i'm reving. f uped up man can believe quality cars are garbage now.

 

u sure the engine was running??!! or u accidently turn the ignition to the middle section, which just turn the battery on and the whole dash board warning lights and everything to light up.

 

ummm... well u say u got a CL-S and obviously you said D5 so its the SS... u shudnt have a handbrake , isnt it a footbrake on the auto CL-S's? i know the 6spd has the handbrake but the 2003 CL-S, im not 100% but i thought it was foot operated
