Tune Up Needed...
#2
find a local mechanic to do it.. I've got a great guy that does all of my stuff except recall and warranty work, coincidently I now bring all of my family's cars there for all their work. Basically only go to acura if you are not going to pay any money, if you;re going to have to pay I'd suggest talking to friends/family/other A-TL members for a refurral to a good mechanic in your area.
My mechanic knows I love to work on my car, so he tells me to call him if I'm going to do anything I'm not sure about. He can go to his computer and print out a step-by-step worksheet for any job on any car and then I can pick it up. Therefore I'll know which bolts come out from what and what order to take them out in.

This is the PM I sent you:
If I'm not mistaken, you purchased this car used, correct?
Do you have the maintenance records from the previous owner?
Spark Plugs, Air Filter, In-Cabin MicroFilter, Oil/Filter Change, ATF Change, Coolant Replacement, and Serpentine Belt all come to mind.
If this car has a timing belt, it should've been replaced back at 60K.
Serpentine Belt should be replaced if it shows that it needs to be (i.e. cracking, etc)
Spark Plugs and Coolant should be done at 105K.
ATF, Oil Change, Air Filter, and In-Cabin Microfilter can be easily done yourself.
Michael

"""""Spark Plugs, Air Filter, In-Cabin MicroFilter, Oil/Filter Change, ATF Change, Coolant Replacement, and Serpentine Belt all come to mind.""""".......
I may not know but, all this sounds like a lot to me!....
I may just have the coolant replacement, fluids drain, and spark plugs done...along w/an oil change. Hopefully, i won't have to spend more than $400.
Again, I don't know how much these jobs cost( except the oil change) so i may be off by a few ($$$)<<<this is why i'm posting>>>
Since buying the car at 69k, I haven't done anything but change the oil. I don't have any warranty on it cus i brought if from a used dealer.
If any of you guys have any suggestions as too which is more important for the amount of miles i have, let me knw. For now, Michael's idea is looking more ideal. I just have to see how much it's going to run me.
thanks again Mike...

back on subject, for those miles i would just get the oil and filter changed (if it falls into the timing of you needing it) check and replace if necessary both cabin and air filters. id hold off on the coolant untill you need a timing belt and h2o pump replacement

I started off asking what kind of tune it really needed for the car and 2days later...my tranny failed! U believe that Sh*t....
It all started off with the tranny jerking and the rpm moving while pressing on the gas w/out the car moving much.
Brouight it to Acura and the people over there told me that i was covered so i'm now driving an Escort till i get my tranny replaced!....
A tip for you guys
The dealer also told me that if i had my Jet kit done then my tranny would have never gone out. Make sure the jet kit on your car is done so you guys wont come accross any surprises.

Well, I am sorry to hear about your tranny. The oil jet thing is not a great fix for the tranny problems with our cars. It helps, but there are plenty of members that have had the oil jet installed and have still had the tranny go out on them. As for the tune-up question. Here is what is on the Acura Owner Link website:
75,00 mi/120,000 km/5 yrs Scheduled Maintenance
Recommended service for your 2002 Acura TL:
-Replace engine oil.
-Rotate tires (follow pattern on page 264 of your owner's manual.
-Replace engine oil filter.
-Inspect front and rear brakes.
-Check parking brake adjustment.
-Inspect tie rod ends, steering gear box and boots.
-Inspect suspension components.
-Inspect driveshaft boots.
-Inspect brake hoses and lines (including ABS).
-Check all fluid levels, condition of fluids, and check for leaks.
-Inspect cooling system hoses and connections.
-#Inspect exhaust system.
-#Inspect fuel lines and connections.
-# = See information on maintenance and emissions warranty, last column, page 223 of your owner's manual.
Good luck with the tranny problem and don't let the dealer feed you anymore crap about the oil jet being the fix for the tranny.
