Question TSX mirrors on a 2nd gen TL

I had a thought the other day after seeing a TSX...wouldn't the mirrors from a TSX (with the clear signal built in) look hot on our 2nd gen TL?

Do the bases of the mirrors match up? They look pretty similiar...

sometimes dealer don't know much. I'd say the best way is to take an actual mirror and see if it lines up with our car. If they line up then that'll be one cool mod to do

I look, look and look at the two very closely the last time I had the TL in for service. They do not match at all!

I know that alot of us would be interested in such a mod if it were available...does anybody care to find out if there is a place out there that would be willing to do the job for all of us?

I wonder how much a difference is there? Maybe it can be retrofitted?

i have personally seen aftermarket accord mirrors on a silver 99 in my area. Small modifications needed to be made on where it bolts up, but they went on with no body gaps and lined up perfectly.

the only catch to those is that you loose the heated mirror function, and being in the snow belt area I need my heated mirrors

Why not do a small "engineered" cut in the mirror housing and insert the light assembly?

I personally would not want to cut my mirrors, even a small "engineered" cut. I know someone here got the 745 side markers put on and that's some seriously big balls to cut into the body like that. I think I'll live without the side lights for now. I'll get it on my new car.

Good call. I don't really care what car they come off of. I just don't like the side markers. Tooo much risk and work-and IMO they don't really look THAT good.

Oh don't be such a Mary.

As for cutting the OEM mirrors to fit signal lights, remember, you have to get something that has the same curve to it.

I was told with the 99s only, you can use Muth mirror lights. You will lose the heated mirror function though.

A person on a-inspired put some aftermarket mirrors w/signals on his TL. Of course, like NSXNEXT stated..you'll lose the heated mirror function, but to those that live in warm climates, it really isn't a feature you need.

although the TSX mirrors don't fit directly. Perhaps an adaptor plate can be made to fit the mirrors? I'm thinking perhaps an aluminum plate with 2 sets of hole patterns, one to fit the door and one to fit the mirror, bolted between the door and the base of the mirror. I guess that should solve the fitment issue? This would allow us to have signal mirror and still keep the heated/power mirror function.

That's cool but I don't want some chessy ass aluminum plate to be visible from the outside in substitution for a normal painted base plate-we don't drive civics, you know?

good point. but the base of the tsx mirror is triangular as well. so this plate is going to be covered partially by the base of the mirror, and painted to color match. the base of the mirror will not be flushed to the window like stock, but if the plate is not too thick it should not be noticeable

if you want them so bad, buy a set and take them to a good body shop and they will fit when they are done.

I wonder how much they are for the pair?? Isn't there someone on here that works for a dealer that can check it out? Maybe we can get them cheaper??
