trying to get HID banned...

that right i was watching the new tonight and they had a segmant on the HID lights and how people are complaining that they are blinded when a car is coming the opposite direction and has the HID.... they were saying that the people have got together and started a petition to get these lights banned.... i know this will more than likely never get enough support to worry about but i just think it is messed up.....

There are too many cars with it out already so they couldnt ban them if they dont want. The only reason they are being blind are they havent seen anything like them before so they stare directly at them.

When premium halogens came out (> 600 lumens) people *****ed about them too, being too bright. Look where we are now.

People who complains about HIDs, are those that cannot afford HIDs

It's all in how they are aimed. My guess is nearly all of the complaints arise from poor headlight alignment. How many times has a car been coming at you with one light aligned and the other shining in your eyes and it temporarily throws your light sensitivity off? Ours would be even worse because they are brighter. But properly aligned, nothing lights the road and not oncoming cars like ours. Brighter is better and safer for everyone.

The problem is that people that convert there head lamps to HID in a housing that wasnt designed for them ......ive seen older cars ...accord n civics ...where the light pattern is not focused and the light is everywhere and its really blinding.

First off these people who say "HID are blinding drivers" or "Oh they hurt my eyes". God damn shut the Fu$k up! Europeans had HIDs for a long as time before the US even got them...you don't hear "Ohh...those bloody things are bright "

Acura. Audi, BMW, Cadillac, Honda, Infiniti, Jaguar, Lexus, MB, Nissan, Porsche have HID systems on their cars, they aren't gonna scrap this great invention because some idiots don't have them on their car. Fine pass the law and take away my HIDs...you gonna pay for my new lighting system or would u rather have me not have any lighting so you still can't see me.

What do they teach you to do "if" someone has their high beams on or if they light is to bright at driving school, it's also in the driving manual at the DMV..."Don’t look directly into oncoming headlights. Look toward the right edge of your lane. Watch the oncoming car out of the corner of your eye. " If the light are blinding, why the hell are you look straight at it for? These fu$kinc idiots are like mosqitos...."ohh...must look into the light....zap!!!" Ever heard of Auto-Dimming Mirrors?

Most HID systems will have a supplementry auto-leveling system (not required). Lexus has them, the lighting will level off according to the sloping of the road. Other car makes might have them, but i'm not certain. Acuras don't have them...keeps the cost down.

What is the percentage of cars having "poorly aligned" head lights? They come aligned when u drive it off the lot. Just because 2% of cars with HIDS have them poorly align, you stupid a$$ want to ban them? McDonald's sell fatty food that is bad for your health, people die from heart attacks, high cholestrol, high blood pressure....$hit, lets close down all the McDonald...IDIOT!!!

"HID are too bright, they blind on comming traffic" If i had my HIDs on during the day, do they blind you? I didn't thinks so, so why the heck are you complaining. It has to do with contrast. Since it's at night, mostly everything is dark...most cars have halogen...ur eye will consider this as relative light...anything brighter ur eye will think it's too bright. Well, if all cars had HIDs...like the Europeans... now HID light will be the relative light...so people will stop complaining...until they start comming out with 8,000k, 10,000k, 12,000K Temp HID...and then ppl will start complaining again.

that is so true...

well, there's always people against new things/technologies you know... like, vegetarians!
really thought, i don't think that petition will go anywhere because when HIDs are properly installed, they are not even blinding, unlike those SUV people who NEVER turn off their highbeam...

It's probably due to those damn ricers who have real or/and fake HIDs without any kind of proper aiming!

Don't even get mad, the world will be at peace before they ban hids. Some old people and soccer moms are tired of sitting home and doing shlt all day so they decide to make up something and bother everyone about it.

Don`t blame ricers, old pharts, etc. Have you forgotten that it`s an election year? D*mn politicians want to start some controversy to get TV face time.

I'm sure that those who are looking to ban them have never driven a car that had them to know how much more effective they are in night driving..

Cool

Those people that are trying to ban HID's are pissed because when they see our cars coming down the road, they go:wow: and stare at our lights. If they just stopped staring at our lights, then it wouldn't blind them.
