Trunk rattling with sub

Does anyone know if there is way to get rid of the trunk rattling when the bass is turned up? I like to turn up the bass, but it always sounds like my car is going fall apart. I think someone had mentioned some trunk liner would do the trick, but I wanted to see if anyone else had any advice. thanks.

dynamat will help but wont get rid of all the rattles. You could also get the dynamat that goes behind the license plate, that would get rid of that rattle.

Do you guys know how much of it I would need for a 2000 TL? That stuff is expensive.

i bought the entire car kit off of ebay for like $120 shipped, the extreme dynamat. i did all 4 doors, all the trunk, trunk lid also. big problem is if you have the spoiler thats part of the rattle, not much you can do about it. but it did help out.

That's a pretty good price. I don't notice any rattling in the interior of the car though so I might just do the trunk and license plate holder. All I picture in my mind when it's rattling is those ghetto hoopty rides that have trunks that rattle when the stereo is turned up.

Are you using stock sub or aftermarket sub? Try www.secondskinaudio.com better and cheaper product then dynamat. Thier "budget" line is better then dynamat extreme. Either way you really have to isolate exactly where the ratteling is coming from and go from there. If you want to see a comparison of deadening products go to this site www.sounddeadenershowdown.com great info there! I did a ron of deadening in my TL no rattles at all so let me know if you need anymore help .

I have a ported box with 2 10in subs so when I turn up the base it hits pretty hard. I can't really tell where the rattling is coming from exactly, but it sounds like the trunk lid itself. I'm going to test it out tonight to see if I can pinpoint exactly where the problem.

Thanks again for everyone's help!! Much appreciated.

Yeah man the lid is kind of flimsy. I did a few layers of dampener on it. Running 1 Idmax ported with 900 watts going to it and you can't hear anything outside the vehicle. The only rattle I get is from the bracket where the stock sub used to be so you might want to look at that as well.
