does that to me too. It seems like a good idea because for us who place the keys in our pockets hitting the trunk button once might happen a few times. So im guessing it was made like that or just hold the button down for like 2 seconds or something like that and it will open as well.

If you think about it, having the instant lock/unlock buttons are ok since at worse, you'll either re-lock a "locked" car, or you'll unlock a "locked" car that will then lock itself within a minute or two if no one opens a door. The panic button, if held for the 2 seconds (or however long it takes to activate), will set off the alarm (doors stay locked), but that will shut off on its own if you leave it be (also, if you're in range to set off the panic, you'll probably be able to hear it and shut it off). The trunk, though, can't relock itself if you open it by accident (like the doors can), so if you're walking away from your car and bumped the trunk button (and the button was setup to open instantly), you may not hear it and the trunk would stay open - which is a major security problem. Again, if you bumped the unlock button, the car is unlocked for a minute or two, then it locks itself again. I think that’s why the trunk needs to be pushed, and held, for it to work – just for peace of mind.
