Trouble with using cdr's (Audio)

Anyone here have trouble with loading cdr's? My 6 disc changer spits it out quite a few times before finally accepting it. It also puts a few scratches on the label side during the process. I'm wondering if it has to do with me using 80min cdr's or that the cdr's i used were labeled for data and not audio.

My CD-R's work fine

Mine will not work with CD-RW's. You also do not want to use CD's with stick-on labels. The heat might make them peel off and jam the mechanism.

I have never had problems with my CD-Rs. I use both 74min and 80min types. No scratches noticed either.

The data vs. audio question is interesting. I believe the "session" must be "closed" before it will play in a pure audio CD player. If you record it as "data" that may not be the case.

Hope this helps or at least points you in a useful direction.

I guess this means that my cheap and free 100/spindle cdr's that i got from microcenter are either too thin or too thick.

No problems here. Both the 74 minute and 80 minute CD-Rs work fine for me.

Even CD-Rs my '99 3.2TL didn't like play fine in the TL-S.

I totally agree - I have never had any problems with the CDR's - + I never use labels. I bought myself a couple of fine-line permanent markers and just write on the cds themselves. Works just fine!

**cringing** at the thought of labels gumming up my player

Don't use labels. Someone in this forum mentioned about CDs getting stuck in the player because the label peeled off.

DATA CD-R as specified from the manufacturer, states it for DATA.
Now if you want to use it for your car stereo or home stereo, use a regular CD-R, DO NOT use CD-RW or data CD-R.

CDRs

No problem with CDRs unlike the Alpine I had in my other car. Both 74 and 80 mins play with no problem. Seek times are fast and flawless. I haven't noticed any scratching, loading or unloading problems either.

And unlike the previous poster's comments, I have not had any problems with CDRs that do not claim they are specifically made for audio.

Huh? I'm looking right a my TDK 74Min 650Mb DATA CD-R blanks that I use for audio; I have never had a problem burning audio CD's while using a "DATA" CD-R. I have been burning for almost 3 years with NO problems.

I think its HU w/o the 6 disk in dash that work ok. In order for me to play cd-r's on my 99 i have to use really good quality cd-r's like tdk's or maxell muzic. Other than that i have no problem even if i over burn.

There actually is no real difference between a CD-R specified by the manufacturer for "data" or "audio" recording. Companies generally label regular CD-r as specialized for "audio" so then can charge a higher price.
As for recording, you can record a CD in Data or audio format. CDs burned in Data format will not play in a cd player. On the other hand, any cd-r burned in audio (WAV) format should work in the car CD player.
