I was like wtf. so I Checked under my car, the oil is leaking from the drain plug. Most likely they have no experience with acura /honda products or they cut corners and DID NOT USE THE ONE TIME CRUSH WASHER that our vehicles require... Go raise a stink and get a refund. And never let a person that earns minimum wage change your oil. You can do it for cheaper.

I brought my Integra to Walmart a couple of years ago for an oil change because I couldn't get the filter off. I watched them like a hawk and good thing I did. The idiots didn't change the filter and wouldn't have if I didn't bring it up to their attention.

I got sick of crap like that so I do most of my own work now. And yes, they get paid minimum wage and dont care about your car. I went to college with a guy that worked there and he said the same thing. He told me one time one of the guys there drained the oil, put in a new filter and forgot to put oil in it untill he went to pull the car out of the service area

Doesn't admission of taking an Acura to a quick oil change place result in a 3 day suspension from posting here?
Actually, I've known of some good quick change places, but they are few and far between and only to be used as a last resort, like if you're on a cross country trip and can't change it yourself. Heck, even in this situation, I'd find an Acura dealer to have it done before I'd stop at WalMart.

In the future just do it yourself, its not that hard and its cheaper.. All you really need is a 17mm wrench and something to catch the old oil in, other than the stuff you'd normally need for an oil change (5 qts oil, filter, crush washer).

I change oil on my Rav4 and Escort all by myself. Just because I want to have 'Professional" service on my acura so I can obtain documents on every oil change for future references.
I guess, I'll go ask for refund or if they give me some free oil i'd do the job myself.

OMG!?!? Wal-mart does oil changes??? No offence but I think I would've kept that one to myself, but I guess it's a good warning for anyone else thats thinking about going there for any kind of car service even as simple as an oil change. Live and learn.

Actually when I do my own oil change, i would let it drain about 30 minute minimum.
Well, can't beat walmart price, $32 for synthetic oil.
And I will advise my friends who drive Murano and Eclipse not to get oil done at walmart anymore

I didn't mean to rag on you or anything.

Yeah, I'll try get a refund, then do my own oil.
One more question, about the crush washer.... where do I get it? I've never replaced washers on drain plugs before. is it something special for honda cars

If you do decide to re-use the crush washer just make sure that you're putting it back on in the right direction. There are two different sides to the washer. One has a sharp flat edge the other side the edge is more rounded. The flat edge mates to the engine, and the rounded edge mates to the drain plug.
As far as having documentation for changing the oil ... Use the receipts from your oil purchase as documentation. Keep a log book of every service you do on the car with receipts etc and give that to the new owner. Many buyers will appreciate DIY service more than a receipt saying you took it to Jiffy Lube or ... Walmart

i agree...i've used the same washer on my 96TL and on my '00 TL.

I have to agree with optiq. I have been getting WalMart oil changes for a while and I have had no problems. It ain't exactly your top mechanics doing the oil changes whereever you go so I don't see it makes a whole lot of difference where I take it. And the WalMart in my area is clean and a bunch of older looking guys work there so I figure that is a good bet. No offense to the younger guys on here but a 40 year old guy trying to feed his family and clothe his kids tends to be a more responsible worker than a 17 year old working for beer money.
Were I not to lazy to do it myself it wouldn't be an issue but unless I can't find someone else to do it and it has to be done right away I would rather take it to WalMart, do some shopping I need to get done while they change my oil and spend the time I save out on the boat or playing catch in the park with the dogs.... or maybe even getting a root canal. I hate changing the oil and not because of the job itself but because of having to either catch it in a suitable container for transport and disposal (which always gets oil all over the place) or pour it into said container at the end (which also gets oil all over abunch of crap)and hall it off to be disposed of properly.... which adds an additional 30-40 minutes to the already 15 minutes (which is a quick change... the WalMart guys take that lon and they do 100 a day). And don't even get me started about having to go to the store and get the filter and oil... heehee
WalMart here I come baby!!!!

Where is the oil filter located on the '05 TL

We went to Wal-mart for the sole reason that they were open later than any oil lube place...but next time I won't go there again. They said they had trouble getting off my drain plug due to the fact that it was rounded. They said they tried everything they could to get it off. They blamed it on my past oil changer which was a shop i usually take it too....Midas...and have taken all my cars to for everything in last 10 years. He got it off right away when I took it back to them and told me Walmart just wasn't using the right sized wrench and THEY rounded it off. DAMN IDIOTS!
Either way, I didn't pay for anything at Walmart and they won't be getting my business anymore for anything car-related. (By the way, their wiper blades suck as well).
Walmart keeps their prices low by keeping their quality low...I need to remember that.

Got my oil changed at a Honda dealer instead of my usual Acura dealer didn't think it would be a difference and they f'in stripped my oil pan... All I got was 20% off and a major headache to get it fixed... still cost me $300 from now on I will only go to the same Acura dealer and if it ever happens again you can be sure they will be paying for it...

WAL MART, are you fucking serious?
WAL MART, Dude that's the funniest thing.
Just let me say this, I treat my TL better than I treat my wife. Fuck, my TL get's a bath more frequently than I do.
The only thing that I'd do for my car at WAL MART is but some air fresheners.
You spent all this $$ on a fine car, give it the respect that it deserves.

Actually this being a second generation forum on the TLs, and I having just purchased mine for example, some people didn't spend a ton of money on their initial purchases.
I for example having just finished shopping for a TL know that the 99-03s range in price from:
a medium high milage 99 TL (around 140k miles) - around 5-6k or less
a medium low milage 03 TL Type S (around 30k miles) - around 26k or less
26k is a fair amount of money to me, yes, but the $10,000 that I spent for a 99 with 60k miles on it with a navigation system in great condition is more of a bargain to me considering the features I get.
My point is that people are purchasing the Acura TL for different reasons, and some of those people may have purchased it because it was a good deal for the price and may feel the same way about the Walmart oil change so do not be so quick to judge by your own situation.
