A friend of mine just bought a 99TL . For some reason the tray keeps on popping out by itself when shes driving, has anyone had that problem before? Any input would help.

 

Yep - mine too. Way I see it, there are three options.

1. Super glue into place. Loses the functionality, but stops popping out. Remember to remove all CD's before you do it.

2. Each time it pops out, throw it in the back seat. My wife puts it back in each time she sees that I have done this, thus leading to my increased tendency to look towards solution #1 above.

3. Leave it alone and let it be. Somtimes I will take it out and leave it out for a day or two and then re-insert. For some reason, when I do this, it tends to stay "in" for at least 2-3 days before popping out. Also tends to pop out more in hot weather.

My 99 doesn't have this problem... too many cd's in there perhaps? (it lodges well into place with 24 cd's in it!)

Mine pops out too. It's not cuz it has too many cds, it's just broken. My cupholder does not close anymore either...i don't understand it..crappy design

 

Believe it or not, there's a SB out for this. I had mine fixed gratis by the dealer. It involves replacing the latching mechanism in the bottom of the slot. Wish I could remember the bulletin number, but you can probably search for it.

 

I had mine replaced under warranty but it still popped out occasionally . My fix was to heat up(with a lighter) the tab on the backside of the holder itsef and apply a little pressure to bend it upwards and hold it till it cools and presto 8 months later with comptech springs, 8teens and NYC roads and it hasnt popped out once on its own .

 

What is that tray used for any way?

 

It holds cd's ,At least in a 99 in does

i tried it and it worked it didnt pop out at all since i did it thanks again.

 

that tray on the 2002-2003...i think is supposed to hold change....cd's dont fit.....what a damn waste!!!
