My transmission keeps locking up while in park . I use a small screw driver to access the small hole by shifter to get into to drive or reverse. does anyone have an idea what is wrong?

 

You have to hear click from transmission handle when press brake pedal. Maybe brake switch is bad. They can do on off.

 

What he said. Turn key to ON, but do not start. Wait for all the beeps and dash warnings to stop. Press the brake pedal, you should hear the "clicking". There's actually 2, one from the relay, one from the solenoid. The solenoid disengages the shift lock.
