Are 2003 TLP's Rev Limited?

In park, I noticed that I can not sustain over 5300 rpms while in park. The car begins to shake, and I can't turn anymore rpms. Are these cars limited?

Yes. There is a spark cut in the 5000 range when in park/neutral, and at 7100 when in gear.

You don't want the VTEC to kick in while in park/neutral now do you.

The reason the car does that is it's cutting off the fuel (hence the shake) so that you don't overrev while there's no load on the engine. Why you would be trying to do that is beyond me...

As someone more technical once explained, the actual cut is to the spark, not the fuel -- that's supposedly a safer proposition.
