transmission slips around 60 mph

Okay everyone, I'm starting to wonder about my car now. It's a 2003, with about 10,500 miles on it. Got it in mid-August. I've noticed once in a while, a sudden drop in speed for a second or two. This happens around 60 mph. Is this where the transmission usually slips at? It really makes my heart jump when this happens. Scares the crap out of me. No lights flashing or anything like that. Is my transmission dying? Please help.

could be, but that doesnt sound like the normal ways it usually dies. is your car under the extended warranty?
finally, if you feel like it is your tranny, try to keep your speed at 60 mph. that is a safe speed just in case it goes into 2nd.

I noticed my car did that for awhile......but when I took it in for a tranny they said they dunno what was wrong, cause the tranny seemed alright. After about 3 months the tranny died! You might want to go get it checked out.

no, what you are experiencing is the infamous TL hickup. No one knows exactly what is causing it but some people say it is normal.

My 2002 TL-S does it on a regular basis. Both when it had original tranny and after new tranny was put in. It is very annoying. Mine does it at 40-50mph, usually once-twice a day. Once it hickuped at 80mph and THAT wsas scary.

Theories as to why it happens:
- tranny grade logic
- ABS
- tranny's torque converter locking/unlocking

P.S. none of my other cars have had such "normal" behavior
