transmission question

i'd be interested in knowing if the folks with transmission problems left the trans in drive or used the "manual" mode.

I usually just put it in drive, original one lasted 120k miles. I'm not racing but my location has alot of high hills.

using SS mode and downshifting at high rpm into 3rd and 2nd puts extra wear on the weak link of the trans

because of that and gas mileage, you are better off leaving it in D and enjoy
SS is for occassional backroad fun,,
and being in the right gear to accellerate of the apex

you can drive it like Grandama and it will still have the same exact failure point.
Not enough cooling oil flow to certain parts

Driving it slow may be worse- even less oil flow than with some speed applied to the program

For that mileage you should take out the 3rd gear pressure switch and clean it, the transmission will last longer.
