Hi guys, I love this site. You guys are great esp. Nate-Mod king
Did anyboby experience any shift feeling (a kick) when your car about to get to a full stop? It is approximately at 5mph. It feels like it is downshifted from 2nd gear to 1st gear. I have a integra and it doesnt do such kicks.

Inspire, sounds like you have the transmission problems. Does your car change gears when you maintain at like 50mph?
but either way, you better check with the dealer to see you have any warranties covage.
Acura sucks on transmission, my brother in law's 91 Camary is still running smoothly on transmission.
No wonder so many people buy Toyota. I have an Integra, that I feel the clutches change.

I don't think it changes gears at around 50mph; however, I can definitely feel it when the gears are switching between 2-3, and rarely at the 4th when I'm using auto. I still have coverage for my car... thank god...
I thought the trannies were built in Japan????
HOW DA HELL CAN IT GO WRONG???:mad...Very disappointing if my tranny is really causing all these problems...And yeah... Talk about the quality of Toyota cars... I have nothing to say but "almost perfect". But then again, Honda's are not as bad considering the history of it and the time that it was around...

I have a 99TL with 68K miles. I also feel this "jerk" forward when I am within the 5mph range. I believe this is normal for an Acura and some other cars because I have noticed it on previous cars that I have owned. However, cars with smoother trannies, such as the Totyota's, probably don't have this problem.

I think you guys might just be a little too impatient with the transmission. 1st gear is way out of proportion to 2nd on our year (I'm sure anyone with a 99 has noticed this, not sure if its true on the newer TL's). Try using the sportshift if you aren't happy with when the computer decides to downshift and see if you still think the transmission is being weird. If you read the manual, it says the car will stay in 3rd until 5mph, and then downshift to 1. I've found that even tapping the gas in 1st gear causes the car to accelerate quite a bit, so I think you're just experiencing the uneven gearing of our car.
