Transmission Fluid Change
Transmission Fluid Change
Im told you should have your transmission fluid changed every 30,000 miles, especially as your car gets up in the mileage. Im coming up on my next change, but wanted to find out:
1. for those that have had it done recently, how much does it cost?
2. can I have anyone change it, or would the acura dealer be the suggested?

Acura -back when they wrote the owner book for our cars, was saying at 60k then every 30
I wouldnt have the dealer do it- its an easy DIY at home- for the savings you can buy a set of ramps and change your own oil from now on too
Its easier than an oil change because no filter!
Does require driving 15 minutes to get oil hot- then drain 3 qts (all it gives up at 1 time)
refill- drive 5 minutes- drain - refill-
Do this 3 times for total of 9 qts replaced- thats as good a job at washing out the old stuff as we can do- or the dealer can do- or you or anyone
Do not use a suction machine- does not work on the TL
Honda dealer is where you buy official approved fluid for the TL
About 6 bucks a qt- call the local dealer and ask for the auto trans fluid

If it feels funny-- DO NOT TOUCH
Take it to the installing dealer who will be happy to have the Head Tech take a ride with you
They want you to be happy, some replacements do fail, just like things break anywhere
Mine felt like a delay from N into D was getting longer- called dealer- dropped over- went for ride- ok for now- come back if prob gets worse
Once you document that you have a concern- even if they cant find it now- they can goodwill another replacement past the 10k 12 month replacements warranty, and you are still under the 109/7year+9 months coverage

reallly?? ok well i think the guy be4 replaced it at david mcdavid honda in plano.... i think... are they gonna charge me for it tho?? because i have saved up for my little door ding and would have to work another day of reffing to get the money. my problem is the shifts bewtween 1 n 2nd and 3 nd 4... it takes a good 1/2 seconds to a second to shift... oh well i will take it regardless of charge...
The dealer tells you a diagnosis fee $ number because they need a written approval from you to have the car inside the shop
No paperwork- cops think its a chop shop
Warranty covers it all no sweat, once prob determined, they change the papers and you pay nothing
Best to go to installing dealer but not required
Call Acura 1-800-382-2238 x5 and ask them when and where it was done- note that you have substanial delay between gears and they will say- take it to the dealer
Then call and speak with SERVICE MAMAGER Not the service writer
Explain prob and how long ago replacement was done.
The trans has a slight delay N to D but thats it- all other gearshifts should be crisp right up to full throttle redline runs
